Knitting Wednesday: Finishing Projects

I didn’t post last week, but I have been getting projects finished during the last two weeks. The first of these was the slouchy toque I’d been working on.  It doesn’t look like it turned out all that slouchy though. Thinking I should have made it longer maybe.

I also finished working on the Minnie Mouse hat last week. It turned out pretty nice. I even figured out a way to make the ears without too much trouble.

I think I could have made the bow a little bigger, but at least my daughter likes it.

Even her brother likes it

I also finished another of my cause hats, this one a beanie with a cabled brim. I had to knit the brim flat then pick up stitches along the edge to start the hat.

I have started another cause hat, but I only got two rows knitted Friday, and didn’t have time to work on it over the weekend as we were busy with my daughter’s birthday party. So, no pictures of it yet.

The other project I’ve finished this week is a crayon caddy. I found the pattern for this on Lion Brand Yarn’s website and thought it looked cute. You can’t fit a lot of crayons in it, there’s only 8 pockets(well, only supposed to be. I accidentally seamed 9 pockets). But, I think with some modifications, I could make it bigger and be able to hold more.

Other than the new cause hat, my needles are actually all cleaned off. Of course, I have two other projects I plan on starting today, so I’ll have three different ones to work on.

Knitting Monday: Finished Project & More

Last week, I had three different projects in progress: a Thomas the Tank Engine hat, one of my cause hats, and my “secret” project(only secret because it’s a gift for someone). I finished the Thomas hat on Saturday, but am still in varying stages of completion on the other two. And Saturday night, I started working on a Minnie Mouse hat. Didn’t have much choice as my daughter started begging me for one while I was working on the Thomas hat. I haven’t gotten too far on the Minnie hat yet, but I do have some different ideas for it.

Finished Thomas the Tank Engine hat

I knitted the main part of this hat and did the face separate. I wasn’t sure how to do this at first, then while looking for something else, I came across a pattern for a circular coaster. I had some trouble getting started(start with 4 stitches on double point needles then increase from there), but after that it got easier. I messed up a little on the eyes, they’re not the same size or straight on the face. And I sewed it onto the hat just a little crooked. But, this is the first time I’ve done something like this, so I think it still turned out nice.

I’ve made quite a bit of progress on the latest cause hat. I’m working on the decreases right now. It will be a slouchy toque style hat when finished. I haven’t done this style before, so it’s something new. Hopefully will have this one finished today or tomorrow at the latest.

Just need to finish crown decreases

don’t have a lot to show on the Minnie hat yet. Only have nine rounds knitted. Going to do a few more rounds in pink(for her dress) then start with the black. then, I’ll need to figure out how to do the ears. Will hopefully have more to show of it next week(and maybe even the finished project).

The Minnie Mouse hat so far

I am nearly finished with the secret project as well, but once again I won’t be posting any photos of it until the gift has been received. I am liking the way it’s turning out though.

Knitting Monday: New Hat

I haven’t been finishing a lot of projects lately. Mostly bouncing between a couple different ones. I don’t know if it’s the heat or what, but I don’t seem to have a lot of motivation to get out the knitting needles once the kids go to sleep. It could also be chasing around a two-year-old who doesn’t take no for an answer. By the time he’s in bed, I’m about wore out. And trying to knit when he’s awake usually isn’t too successful. But, that’s enough excuses.

I did finally finish one project last Monday night. It’s a hat I started a couple months back but didn’t work on it much. I had to start over on it once because I realized I’d messed up on the gauge and it was going to be a lot bigger than I had figured. And I wasn’t going to have enough yarn to finish it. Then, after I got it restarted, I got sidetracked with a couple other projects, so progress on this one was slow. But, I did finally finish it.

I know I mentioned before my plan to make hats to help raise money for different causes. Well, this is one of them. This one, I am planning to see to help raise money for a friend’s Lupus Walk. She has been having a difficult time health wise this past year, and it only makes me feel the need to help even more. So, if anyone would be interested in buying a hat like this, you can either contact me through my Facebook page or email me directly at: brownsnovelknits@gmail.com. I can make this hat in any size(from 14 inch circumference up to 26). 50% of the sales(before shipping) will go toward the Lupus Walk for my friend’s team. Except for on the 3rd of each month, when 100% will go toward it.
