Writing Wednesday: A Better Start

So, this week has started off better than the last one. At least as it comes to interruptions to my routine. Word count is roughly the same(actually a little lower because I didn’t write anything Monday that I count towards the goal). Monday was mostly spent on reading and getting stuff done around the house(I got almost all the laundry done in 1 day). Though I did work on getting beta notes for chapter 4 of Stained Blood copied into Scrivener. And during our daily afternoon sprint on Twitter, I worked on Jonas & Isaac(which I don’t count toward word goal because it’s all by hand).

Tuesday I made some good progress, particularly on side projects. And some progress on a couple main projects. I’m hoping to make even more progress today. I’ll get to more on that progress in a bit. But, first it’s WiPPet Wednesday!!! I’ve got more with Jonas & Isaac today. I have 8 paragraphs today(10-18). Jonas has been stopping by the youth center but it’s always been when Isaac isn’t around. Isaac and Konner are talking about that here.

“So what do you want me to do? Tell him you’re here by lunch Tuesdays and Thursdays? Or to stop stalking you?”

Isaac laughed. “You know that’s not what he’s doing. He just hasn’t figured out what to do with himself now that he isn’t a soldier. Anyway, you said he gave tips on setting up the soccer practices. And he stayed later Wednesday to talk to a few of the older boys. So, he’s helping. I don’t see a problem with him hanging around then.”

“That’s good to know,” Konner said, breaking into a grin. “Because he’s in the gym with some of the older kids right now. Last I knew, they were kicking a ball around, but that might have changed.”

Kicking a ball around? How was he managing that? And was it reminding him of all he’d lost? He dropped his bag behind the desk then started toward the area of the center that held the small gym. Konner chuckled behind him, the bastard. If he didn’t know better, he’d think Konner had kept Jonas here just for this reason.

The hell of it was, he just might have. Konner could be a sneaky son of a bitch when he thought it was necessary.

Not that it was right now. Of course.

He stepped into the gym and just stood for a moment. The kids were indeed kicking around a soccer ball. Derek stood on the other side of the room, hands on their hips, watching Jonas. Isaac wasn’t sure he could stop doing the same thing. Jonas was doing drills with the kids, from the bench. Calling out directions, throwing or kicking the ball to one of the kids, easily catching a ball that came his way.

He was in his element. And beautiful with it.

Oh, Isaac, you are so sunk. Might as well give in now. 😉 Not that I can make it that easy for them, of course.

Sunday Summary: The Askew Continues

Friday when I turned on my computer, it said Windows wanted to do an update. I figured, what the heck. I’d already put it off once. And it usually only takes a little while. Ha! 2 hours later! It finally finished. But, then when I tried to go to wordpress to read blogs I follow, a page comes up saying “A secure connection could not be established” or something like that. That was using Microsoft Edge, which I’ve used without a problem since installing Windows 10. I tried on Firefox and finally managed to get them to come up after much refreshing. Apparently this is going to become an issue(something about SSL certificates that I don’t really know anything about).

Saturday we went and got groceries, dropped the kids off at mother-in-law’s and came home so we could get ready. This was the first year our station for the motorcycle club we belong to has held a “Kickin’ Cancer” dinner/dance benefit. The ride we have in August raises funds for a local oncology center. This benefit was for the same thing but to spread it around to more than the “motorcycle crowd”. There weren’t a whole lot of people there this year, but hopefully the word will spread a bit more and that will change next year.

On our way to the benefit. And I was apparently not the only one who said #nodressesforme I counted a whole 2 dresses there 😉

This week was a bit off for me. I still made progress, just not nearly as much as I would like.

Writing Wednesday: Routine Askew

This past weekend was our town’s homecoming, which I talked a bit about on Sunday. Won’t rehash all that here. Saturday I also said good-bye to my wedding ring for about 2 weeks(engagement & wedding ring are fused together and engagement ring needs repaired). Feels very odd to be without the only piece of jewelry I ever really wear.

Last Friday, the kids came home with a note that one of the 5th grade teachers had passed away. Apparently he’d been battling cancer. Neither of my kids have had him(the girl is only in 4th grade now), so they don’t seem to be too affected by this. But, today will be an early dismissal because of the funeral. The kids also had Monday off, so this throws my routine off even more(and wow, that sounded really callous, but I didn’t know the guy either. Still I didn’t mean to sound heartless). Still, I have managed to make progress on just about all my goals this week.

And now, it’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for WiPPet Wednesday! So, I’ve got more from Jonas & Isaac’s story. I have 3 paragraphs(1+0+1+1=3).This is from the end of the next chapter and takes place the day after their kiss. Jonas stopped at the youth center where Isaac volunteers a lot of his time. And there was some flirting and sexual tension going on. But, now Isaac is leaving, too. The day before, he felt like someone was watching him when he left his house but brushed it off as paranoia. But, now:

When he stepped out of the center, he once again felt those eyes on him. He shook the feeling off, though. It had just been an emotional rollercoaster of a weekend. That’s why he felt so unsettled. Not because someone was watching him. Who would even want to?

No, he just needed to get back to his usual routine. Then, everything would go back to normal. The kiss and today’s visit from Jonas had just thrown him off. That’s all this was.

He was sure of it.

You absolutely sure, Isaac? Once can be brushed off, but twice? Maybe you’re not so paranoid because of your father’s release. (*Hint*: he’s not).

Writing Wednesday: Some Hope

Sunday we went out for breakfast for my husband’s birthday. After breakfast, he dropped the girl and me at Barnes & Noble. I got The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo(I haven’t started reading the stories yet, but just the pictures in the book are beautiful). The girl got the next two books in the series she’s been reading.Had an issue with the girl trying to smuggle a stuffed cat out in her sweatshirt pocket. Thankfully, I noticed while we were in line and told her she had to pay for it if she wanted it. While we waited for husband to come get us, we had a talk about how that is stealing and that is wrong. 10 years, and I didn’t think I’d have to have that talk. Hopefully won’t have to have it again.

Other than that, the day went pretty well. I took another box of books to the bookstore(and bought 2 new ones). Took some baby clothes to Once Upon a Child and made almost $12. They didn’t take very much, but at least that’s some extra spending money for me. And we’d thought we lost the boy’s wallet, but I finally found it. It had slipped into the back of his booster seat in the truck. *phew* And he got his first hunting permit(with the mentor permit, he can go, but he can’t carry the rifle while they’re walking and he has to be with an adult at all times). He’s excited about that.

And now it’s Wednesday, which means WiPPet Time! With all the awfulness in the world lately, I figured I’d share a more hopeful snippet. So, I’m skipping ahead a bit in Jonas & Isaac’s story. I have 5 paragraphs(10+4=14=1+4=5) from the end of Chapter 6. They’re at Jonas’ nephew’s birthday party. And Jonas is having some issues handling some things. Jonas went off to an empty room to get his mind to settle, and Isaac followed him. The first line is Isaac:

“No one expects you to right away. Well, except for you apparently. You always were harder on yourself than anyone else could be.”

Jonas’ lips tipped up. “Santiago used to say that, too.”

“You still miss him.”

“I do. We weren’t a couple for more than three years, but it hurts knowing I’ll never be able to just call him up again.”

Isaac couldn’t stop himself from reaching up to brush his fingers over Jonas’ cheek. Didn’t stop himself from leaning forward. He knew it was foolish, his mind kept screaming that at him. But, he still pressed his lips to Jonas’.

Ah, finally! 😀 Will it be smooth sailing ahead now?(Haha, Oh Fallon, you are funny.) 😉

Plotting:

  • Green Hills & Smoky Fields – Story Toolkit – Finished Subplot Arc & Event Brainstorm 1. 2/9 sections

Drafting:

  • Primary: Write 35000 words on main projects – 2639/35000 words
    • Still Burning – 2337 words(weekly goal met!)
      • “You were taken care of. What more could I want with you? And now you can help me.”
“What the hell are you talking about?” He could barely get the words out through the fire burning in his throat. Who did this guy think he was? Not much more than a fucking sperm donor, but he acted like Austin owed him something for that. He didn’t think so.

  • Read: 30 books – 1/30
    • Jackson’s Trust(Violet Duke) – Started this Sunday morning. Finished it Monday afternoon. Liked it, but there was a thing that happened at maybe 75%(or a little before) that came out of the middle of nowhere. And I was like…really? Plus, the character it happened to, you don’t even see it from their point of view. Just the other character hearing about it. So, that took the enjoyment down for me.
    • Deceived(Kate SeRine) – Started this Monday afternoon. At 45%

Sunday Summary: Beginning of June

It’s been a pretty good week. A little of a slow start, but that was pretty much expected with the holiday. Started JuNoWriMo on Thursday, though that doesn’t change my routine much except for participating in the sprints on Twitter and trying to get all the other stuff done in between them. But, I made some good progress on a couple projects Thursday and Friday.

Saturday morning, I went to check something on my Surface tablet. And it wouldn’t turn on. I’d had it on earlier in the day to post my SOCS & WeWriWa posts, and it was plugged in so I knew the battery wasn’t dead. Finally, I got it to restart, but I apparently hadn’t saved my word count spreadsheet since the previous Friday(not the day before, but more than a week earlier). So, all my word counts for the last week were gone. Thankfully, I already had them recorded in this post. So, it wasn’t too difficult to get them back. Still a pain in the ass.

Then, we went to see the guy who bought my father-in-law’s motorcycle like 10 years ago. That was shortly after FiL died and husband’s stepmom sold it. We wouldn’t have even been able to afford it back then, otherwise my husband probably would have bought it from her. Anyway, the guy’s wife was in an accident recently and he’s looking to sell it. He’s offering it to us for about $3000 less than he’s planning to list it. We’ve been thinking about getting a different bike, though we were looking at a different style. But, we’re going to see if we can swing the money for it or not.

We got lunch and groceries and were on the way home when from the back seat we hear “my tooth fell out”. Sure enough the boy is holding one of his teeth in his hand. Finally. Since he has a tooth just about all the way in right behind it.

That was most of our excitement for the week. The boy did get to go with Daddy last night for a “guy’s night” with some of my husband’s friends. They had a cookout at one the friend’s house. The girl and I stayed home, watched Black Beauty(her choice…which I happened to have on video & DVD) and ate popcorn.

This week is split between two months, so I’ll do a final recap of May before I get into June goals. Most of May’s will be repeat from Wednesday if you read that post, but I did add more after I posted that check-in.

Plotting

  • Still Burning finish Story Toolkit, Outline
  • Jayla & Carisa(Gilbert, Co #7) brainstorm, character back stories, plot summaryget through Story Toolkit: Supporting Characters – This is going onto the backburner for the moment. I’ll pick it back up once I finish Not Meant to Be.
  • High on Your Love(Kurztown #6)brainstorm, character back stories, plot summary, Story Toolkit, Outline. – Finished writing Morgan’s back story, still need to type it up.

Writing

  • Not Meant to Be – Add 53000 words/28 scenes to finish 1st draft – 20681 words/23 scenes finished this month,
  • Still Burning(Hunter Family #4) – Write 70000 words/61 scenes – 1397 words/1 scene finished
  • Heart of Christmas(BC Security #3.5) – Write 30000 words/42 scenes – 1022 words/1 scene finished, 277 words this week.
    • “Stop it you bloody git,” he muttered. He didn’t need any of those perverted thoughts when he was going to sit at her family’s dinner table. *yes, Caelen, but Alaina would love to know you’re having these thoughts 😀
  • By the Gun – Write 50000 words/22 scenes to finish part/book 1(haven’t decided if I’ll write the book in 3 parts or make it 3 different books. Likely will decide when I finish the first part). – 3247 words/4 scenes, 2225 words/2 scenes this week
    • Diego was right, Luke knew. But, he’d always hoped the boy would lose sight of his vow for vengeance. That he would find something more fulfilling to life, as Luke had. If he was right about who he’d seen out there today, it was obvious that hadn’t happened. And that it never would.
  • Side Projects Add 4400 words between all projects – 13084/4400 words, 1548 words this week
    • Patrick & Sarah – 219 words – He had to shake that thought off, too, or he might just find himself turning around and riding back to the farm. But, then he certainly would never have a chance with Sarah. And he really wanted to have that chance. Even if it never came to more than that.
    • Dougal & Shae – 210 words – “Really? What do you plan to do? Drag your little sister out to a bar? Sure and she’d likely kick your arse for that, too.”“Oh, yes, she would,” he said, the grin not fading from his face. “But, that wasn’t my plan anyway. I came to extend an invitation to my parents’ place this weekend.”
    • Roman – 325 words – That would make this an even more precise job he’d have to do. And he wasn’t sure he could do that. The questions he’d planned to ask would likely tip Carlos right over the edge he was already walking. But, he didn’t see any way around it. Even if not for his case, he needed to know so they could help Tereza move on from the way she’d been living.
    • Midas’ Daughter – 206 words – If it was up to her, she’d just cancel the party. She hadn’t wanted it in the first place. But, she knew that wasn’t possible. Her father would never let her get away with it.
    • Preggers – 234 words – She was still doing that. None of his family knew, and she didn’t see any reason to tell them now. She wasn’t going to love anyone else, except her and Darren’s child, anytime soon. *Yeah, Lyndi, just keep telling yourself that. 😉
    • Hawk – 281 words – I wish he never had to do that. But, I knew it could be hard to leave behind armor that had always done well protecting you.
    • Mason & Lila – 73 words – “Lila Isabel Corelli. Step away from that boy this instant.” *Uh oh, middle name has been invoked.

Editing

  • Flames of Renewal – CP Edits
  • In the Moonlight – Transfer from OneNote(on my Surface) to Scrivener(on my laptop) – 27 chapters(there’s actually 32, counting the epilogue, but I’d already started it before) – 27/27 chapters typed up.
  • Stained Blood – Adding this in as I’m starting to get chapters back from beta: Compile comments – 1/26 chapters. Got an email back from CP on this. No comments in the document for this version, but a lot of good things in the email.
  • Snow White Twist – Beta edits, rename, & submitcompiled notes from 1 beta reader to the main document. Still waiting to hear from other beta reader. Decided on the title ‘One Touch’ for this.
  • Dance with the Devilread through, make revisions, & polish –  Polished 4/10 chapters.
  • Beta Read Read 58 chapters(total of 73, but that’s what I have left) & return to author

Blogging

  • Story a Day – Write 31 stories – 31/31 stories written, 4 this week.
    • Meeting Jonas – Isaac meets Jonas for first time. Warning for mention of child abuse & self-harm.
    • Memorial Day – Toby visits the cemetery to honor those who have been lost.
    • Your Call – Some back story to By the Gun. What will Luke do when there’s trouble immediately following Arcelia agreeing to marry him?
    • Your Book – Silas has a surprise for Corrin. This one is a little steamy and follows sometime after the end of Playing with Fire.

Reading

  • Listen: 5 books – 6/5 for the month, 0 this week
    • The Immortal Irishman(Timothy Egan) – I don’t read or listen to much non-fiction. But this one was the daily deal back on St. Patrick’s day and it combines two of my interests, Irish history and the Civil War. On Chapter 17/24. I’m really enjoying it and it’s inspiring me to pick up a story I wrote years ago and have replotted that takes place in the same time period.
    • Heartless(Gail Carriger) – Started this Monday morning. On Chapter 5/16
  • Read: 31 books – 31.5/31, 2 this week
    • Death at Peony House(Krista Walsh) – I started this Sunday afternoon. At 46%. This was still in my Unlimited folder, though I think the series is out of KU now. So this will be my “extra” book for now. Really enjoying it(so good incentive to finish my other books for the week and get back to it).
    • The Star-Touched Queen(Roshani Chokshi) – Started this Monday morning. Finished it Tuesday afternoon. Absolutely lovely.
    • A Copper Ridge Christmas(Maisey Yates) – Started this Tuesday morning. Finished it Tuesday afternoon. It was a quick, enjoyable read.
    • By the Hour(Roni Loren) – Started this Tuesday evening. Finished it Wednesday night. Absolutely loved it.
    • Festive Seduction(Sidney Bristol) – This is a short story I downloaded for free some time ago. I have over 100 books in my ‘free’ collection on my kindle, so I decided I’d start adding them to my monthly to-read list. Got to 22% Wednesday night.

  • Knit: Duo Cable Hat – Finished this Tuesday night. Now, putting the yarn away until at least September.

And now for June’s goals:

Plotting:

  • High on Your Love – Back stories, Plot summaries, Story Toolkit, Outline – Wrote Anna’s & Kacy’s back stories Saturday morning during some JunoWriMo sprints. Just need to type them up now.
  • Jayla & Carisa – Plot summaries, Story Toolkit, Outline

Writing:

  • Heart of Christmas(BC Security #3.5)Add 8000 words – no June words
  • Still Burning(Hunter Family #4) – Add 10000 words – 2120/10000 words
    • But, the minute he’d mentioned taking her to a family gathering, she’d beat it out of his apartment. And she hadn’t returned any of his calls. It was always like that. He should have gotten the point already.
She was never going to love him. *I just want to give Austin a hug here and tell him it’s not him, it’s Jess and the issues she’s trying to work through.
  • Not Meant to Be(Gilbert, Co #6) – Add 10000 words or finish 1st draft – 3096/10000 words
    • “My thoughts exactly,” Garren said. “Well, the first. I don’t have a clue what else you said, but I’m guessing it’s bad.”
  • By the Gun Add 8000 words – no June words
  • Side Projects – Add 9000 words between them – 1360/9000 words
    • Mike & Fadil – 422 words – “Right,” Mike said, his voice sounding hollow. When Fadil looked up, the other man wasn’t looking at him anymore. In fact, he had his gaze riveted on the counter, moving some papers around. A task that probably wasn’t necessary.
    • Jacob & Matthew – 374 words – That last wouldn’t please his father, but he also wouldn’t say anything about it. If he found out the truth, though, well, Jacob didn’t know what he’d do. And that’s what worried him.
    • Hang On – 289 words – We went most of the way like that. We were close enough together a good part of the time, that we could have carried on a conversation. But, just being out here tended to be enough for both of us. And neither wanted to cause a misstep because of a lack of focus.
    • Tavin & Haiwee – 275 words – She did not wish to stay close if it meant no longer seeing him.

Editing:

  • Stained Blood – beta edits – edited Chapter 1/26(counting the epilogue as a chapter of its own). I’ll continue to work on these as they come in. This is my first priority editing project. I’ll work on the others as I get the chance.
  • Flames of Renewal – CP edits – still waiting
  • In the Moonlight – Revise – Plan to start on this next week.
  • One Touch(formerly Snow White Twist) – Beta edits, Polish, & Submit – still waiting to hear back from 2nd beta reader.
  • Dance with the Devil – Polish 6 chapters  – Polished 2/6 chapters

Reading:

  • Listen: 5 books – 0/5
    • Heartless(Gail Carriger) – On Chapter 13/16
    • The Immortal Irishman(Timothy Egan) – On Chapter 17/24
  • Read: 30 books – 3/30
    • Death at Peony House(Krista Walsh) – At 46%
    • Festive Seduction(Sidney Bristol) – Finished this Thursday afternoon. Liked it but not going to continue with the series.
    • Connection Error(Annabeth Albert) – Started this Thursday afternoon. Finished it Friday afternoon. Really enjoyed it but starting to wonder if the author writes any main characters who aren’t gay. I’ve read books from 2 of her series now, and none are bi or anything else, not even side characters. In this one there was a hint that a minor character was trans, but that’s it. I like the books, but yeah, that’s been bothering me.
    • An Unseen Attraction(KJ Charles) – Started this Friday night. Finished it Saturday night. Loved it.

RoW80 Round 2 Check-Up

So, this round I’ve started doing an evaluation of my goals for the round at the end of each month, the same time that I figure out my goals for the next month. I’m hoping this will keep me on track. Possibly not, since I keep adding new goals(such as working on 4-5 projects instead of 1 at a time). But, let’s see where I’m at.

Plotting

  • Heart of Christmas(BC Security #3.5) – finish outlining – this is done & I’ve even started writing
  • Still Burning(Hunter Family #4/Flames #7(?)) – Outline – done & started writing
  • Jayla’s Story(Gilbert, Co #7) – Outline – not done but got through character back stories.
  • High on Your Love(Kurztown #6) – Outline – not done. have 1 character back story finished.

Writing

  • Playing with Fire – finish 1st draft – this is done
  • Not Meant to Be – finish 1st draft – not there yet. Did add 20,681 words to it.
  • By the Gun – finish 1st draft(I set this one aside a while ago, but hoping I can pick it back up) – just got back to this one. Added 3247 words to this during May.
  • Side Projects – add 12000 words between all projects – added 18447 words during the last two months. Looking to add around another 9000 this month. I’ll definitely be changing this goal for the next round.

Editing

  • Stained Blood – Polish and send back to CP and to beta(if anyone else wants to read, let me know) – I did this, got an email back from CP and Chapter 1 back from beta. Working on fixing that up now.
  • Snow White TwistPolish and send to readers. Hopefully submit before the end of the round – first of these done. Still waiting to hear back from 1 reader.
  • Dance with the DevilRevise and start posting to Wattpad– revised & chapter 1 is posted.
  • Flames of Renewal – Apply CP edits – still waiting to get this back from CP
  • In the Moonlight – Revise – got this transferred to Scrivener. Will start revisions this month.
  • Demons Rising – Revise – not started yet

Blogging

  • A-Z posts: Draft 13 posts, edit & format 18 posts, post 25 posts – got these all done
  • Story a Day: Write 31 stories – did this too.

Reading

  • Listen: 12 books – 13/12
  • Read: 90 books – 62/90

Crafting

  • Knit: 3 projects – 1/3
  • Crochet: 3 projects – 1/3
  • Loom: 3 projects – 0/3

Not too much red there, so not bad at all. Most of those I’m hoping to turn green or even blue during this month. Except the crafting goals. Those are getting set aside until at least September when it might start cooling off again.

Now, for my goals for June:

Plotting:

  • High on Your Love – Back stories, Plot summaries, Story Toolkit, Outline
  • Jayla & Carisa – Plot summaries, Story Toolkit, Outline

Writing:

  • Heart of Christmas(BC Security #3.5) – Add 8000 words
  • Still Burning(Hunter Family #4) – Add 10000 words
  • Not Meant to Be(Gilbert, Co #6) – Add 10000 words
  • By the Gun – Add 8000 words
  • Side Projects – Add 9000 words between them

Editing:

  • Stained Blood – beta edits
  • Flames of Renewal – CP edits
  • In the Moonlight – Revise
  • Snow White Twist – Beta edits, Polish, & Submit
  • Dance with the Devil – Polish

Reading:

  • Listen: 5 books
  • Read: 30 books

Writing Wednesday: End of May

It’s been a pretty good week so far. Sunday, my MIL came out to the house to watch the kids and the husband and I got on the motorcycle and went for our first ride of the season. It was nice to finally get out. We got hit with a few raindrops when we were almost home, but we mostly beat the rain. We’d planned to have a fire out in the yard that night, but all the wood we have was wet and it started thundering again while husband was trying to get it going. So we had to cancel that. Maybe next weekend.

Monday I thought would be a lazy day. But, we ended up going to a friend’s so husband could help cut down a tree. Then, we had to haul some mattresses around for some family members of his(I won’t get into all the drama surrounding that). We did get some free, fresh eggs out of that, though. And then we went and got ice cream for dinner. I didn’t get as much done as I would have liked, but I did get some.

Yesterday was back to the normal routine. At least for the next week. Then, the kids will be home for the summer, and I’ll have to see what my routine looks like. It may not be too different since they can pretty play outside by themselves(I do check on them periodically, but they don’t need me out there constantly).

Now, since it is Wednesday, it’s time to share another snippet for WiPPet Wednesday!! Today I’m working on Heart of Christmas, a novella in my BC Security series. I still don’t have a lot for this one(less than 1k so far), but I can share a little bit. This is from the very first scene.  26 sentences(31-5) for today. Alaina is walking with her cousin, Sean. They’re on his family’s farm. And her brother, Declan, you may have met in snippets of Protecting the Heart. He’ll be showing up a little later.

He’d made it pretty clear that he didn’t ever think about her. Avoiding eye contact, barely responding to her greetings and other efforts to converse with him. Yeah, it was obvious, so why couldn’t she just give up?
Too stubborn for anyone’s own good as her brother, Declan, would likely say.
Sean squeezed her shoulders as if he knew where her thoughts had gone. But how could he? It’s not like she’d ever admitted any of these feelings to anyone. That was just a way to be humiliated. She learned that lesson a long time ago. Thanks to her stepfather, when he’d abandoned her after driving her mother…she quickly cut that thought off. No need to bring herself down now.
“Those Dougherty boys,” Sean murmured, and she jerked her gaze to his.
Sean’s smile remained soft, but she cleared her throat. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
He didn’t laugh this time, but she was pretty sure she could hear it in his voice when he said, “It took me a while to convince Braeden it was okay to love me, too. And Caelen has more standing in his way than Brae ever did.”
“I still don’t know what you’re talking about.” But her chest ached at the insinuation to a past she wasn’t aware of.
Sean’s lips curled up even more. “I think you do. But, I won’t pester you about it anymore. Mom will question what’s kept us from her table for so long.”
“Leave your mother alone,” Alaina said, a laugh in her voice. “She’s a saint for putting up with you for so long.”
He brushed his lips over her temple, and the gesture nearly brought tears to her eyes. “I know it,” he murmured.

  • High on Your Love(Kurztown #6) – brainstorm, character back stories, plot summary, Story Toolkit, Outline.

  • Heart of Christmas(BC Security #3.5) – Write 30000 words/42 scenes – 935 words/1 scene finished, 190 words this week.
  • Side Projects Add 4400 words between all projects – 12496/4400 words, 960 words this week

Have a potential title for it as well. Still simmering on that, though.
  • Dance with the Devilread through, make revisions, & polish –  Polished 4/10 chapters.
  • Beta Read Read 58 chapters(total of 73, but that’s what I have left) & return to author

Blogging

  • Story a Day – Write 31 stories – 30/31 stories written, 3 this week. Still waiting for the final prompt.

Reading

  • Listen: 5 books – 6/5 for the month,  this week
    • The Immortal Irishman(Timothy Egan) – I don’t read or listen to much non-fiction. But this one was the daily deal back on St. Patrick’s day and it combines two of my interests, Irish history and the Civil War. On Chapter 17/24. I’m really enjoying it and it’s inspiring me to pick up a story I wrote years ago and have replotted that takes place in the same time period.
    • Heartless(Gail Carriger) – Started this Monday morning. On Chapter 5/16
  • Read: 31 books – 30.5/31, 2 this week
At 18%

Crafting

  • Knit: Duo Cable Hat – Finished this Tuesday night. Now, putting the yarn away until at least September.

It was a pretty good month overall. Over 40,000 words written and crossed a few things off, though it seems I added even more. Hoping next month will be good as well.
