October Wrap-Up & November Goals

I meant to include this with my Writing Wednesday post, but well, I forgot. This is not an unusual occurrence for me, so no one should be too shocked. 😉

October, I believe, was actually a pretty good month. We’ll see how good once I actually go through my progress:

Plotting:

  • Toby & Denise – finish outlining – this is finished
  • Jess & Terrall – outline – didn’t have this finished before the end of October, but it is now.
  • Stained Blood – re-plot – still waiting to hear from CP first.

Writing:

  • Closing Time – finish 1st draft – got this done at the beginning of the month. 9553 words written during October.
  • Break on Me – add 30000 words – 30634/30000 words written & finished 1st draft!
  • In the Moonlight – add 4000 words – 4767/4000 words
  • Defending the Heart – add 4000 words – 4859/4000 words
  • Toby & Denise – add 4000 words – 5341/4000 words
  • Dance with the Devil – get to 22500 words – 21996/22500 – fell short here
  • Snow White Twist – finish 1st draft – nope. It’s at 15938 right now.
  • Patrick & Sarah – get to 2000 words – 2126/2000 words
  • Tavin & Haiwee – get to 1500 words – 1565/1500 words. And we’ve just met Haiwee’s brother, who makes a few appearances in Stained by Ashes, too. 🙂
  • Roman – get to 2500 words – 2734/2500 words. These ones seem to roll right out.
  • Dougal & Shae – 500 words – 795/500 words. Another one that’s rolling out well.

Obviously the writing has been going well. I also added 4282 words to Crash and Burn, another ‘novella’ in the Flames series(takes place around the same time as Closing Time)

Revising:

  • Guarding the Heart – finish 1st revisions & read through – Did both of these and the second round of revisions. have the polishing on hold for the moment
  • Healing the Heart – beta edits if I end up getting them back before the end of the month(have to send it out first though) – I did send this out. And I got it back on the last day of the month. I do have them started now, though.

Reading:

  • Listen: 7 audiobooks – 8/7 audiobooks.
  • Read: 28 books – 27/28. Only 1 short this month. And I finished that one the next day.

Crafting:

  • Knit: Unleashed Hat – finished this
  • Crochet: Fall Leaves – finished one of these & also a few dish cloths.

Not a bad month at all. Only one red item, and that’s currently out of my hands. Now, for November goals:

Plotting:

  • Stay a Little Longer – outline
  • Stained Blood – Re-plot

Writing:

  • Write 11000 words each on:
    • Defending the Heart(BC Security #3)
    • Crash & Burn(Flames #5.75)
    • Not Meant to Be(Gilbert, Co #6)
    • Stay a Little Longer(Kurztown #5)
    • In the Moonlight
  • Dance with the Devil – get to 24500 words/1st draft
  • Snow White Twist – get to 18/500 words/1st draft
  • Patrick & Sarah – get to 2750 words
  • Tavin & Haiwee – get to 2200 words
  • Roman – get to 3500 words
  • Dougal & Shae – get to 1500 words

Revising:

  • Healing the Heart – Beta Edits & final proofread
  • Guarding the Heart – Polish & add to list to send to CP

Reading:

  • Listen: 6 audiobooks(already finished 1)
  • Read: 29 books(already finished 2)

  • Knit: Tricorder Hat, Wheatfields Dishcloth, Polly Wolly Doodle Hat
  • Crochet: Tiny Jellyfish

RoW80 2016 Round 4 Goals

I wrote up my October goals in yesterday’s post, but decided to set my goals for this final round of 2016 in a separate post. But, you can check that one out too if you want.

It is the final round of RoW80 for the year. Things are changing slightly. No more linky on the RoW80 blog, or sponsor posts or duties. Now we’ll be linking up on the Facebook page. I’m trying to decide if it will change how I do things on my blog. Thinking I may do a more general update on Wednesdays along with my usual WiPPet Wednesday post. Then, on Sunday I’ll do the more detailed update. Still considering it, so we’ll see what I end up doing.

But, for now, I have a new set of goals for this final round:

Plotting:

  • Toby & Denise – finish outlining
  • Jess & Terrall(Kurztown #5)
  • Stained Blood – re-plot
  • Still Burning(Hunter Family #4/Flames #6)

Drafting:

  • Closing Time – finish 1st draft
  • Break on Me – finish 1st draft
  • In the Moonlight -finish 1st draft
  • Defending the Heart – add 12000 words
  • Toby & Denise – add 12000 words
  • Jess & Terrall – 1st draft(NaNoWriMo)
  • Stained Blood – re-write

Editing:

  • Guarding the Heart – finish revisions & send to CP
  • Healing the Heart – beta edits & publish(depending on timing)

Side Projects:

  • Dance with the Devil – finish 1st draft
  • Snow White Twist – finish 1st draft, revise, & submit by 10/31(this is looking unlikely at this point, but we’ll see)
  • Patrick & Sarah – get to 3000 words
  • Tavin & Haiwee – get to 2500 words
  • Roman – get to get to 3500 words
  • Dougal & Shae – write 1500 words

Reading:

  • Listen: 15 audiobooks
  • Read: 82 books

Crafting:

  • Knit: 3 projects
  • Crochet: 3 projects

A good amount to work on for this round. You might notice I dropped my reading craft books goal. It’s not that I don’t think I can improve in some areas. I just…feel like I keep reading the same things over and over. So, I’m just taking a break from it for this round at least. And I’ve added my crafting goals back in there now that the weather is cooling down again.

RoW80 Round 3 Goals

I meant to have these figured out sooner than the Monday the round takes off. Yeah, didn’t happen. Between camping last Monday-Thursday, fourth of July holiday stuff, and a general forgetfulness, it didn’t get done. But, it’s not too late, so here they are:

Plotting:

  • Ready When You Are(Kelan’s Story) – finish outline. Shouldn’t take long as all I have to do is put scenes into Scrivener and do the G,M,C,D.
  • Jessica’s Story(Hunter Family #4) – Outline

Writing:

  • Guarding the Heart – 1st draft
  • Some Fools Never Learn – 20k words

Editing:

  • First Choice, Second Chance(formerly The Choice) – beta edits & proofread
  • Law of Choice – 2nd round revisions & polish for CP
  • Demons Rising – 2 revision rounds(lot of rewriting on this one, so that may be pushing it)

Publish:

  • First Choice, Second Chance
  • Stained Snow – if I can…will be late in the round, though

Reading:

  • Listen/read – 49 books
  • 3 craft/research books

Crafting:

  • Knit: 3 projects
  • Crochet: 3 projects

And that’s it for this round. I posted my July goals last week, and for the first week of this round:

  • Guarding the Heart – finish through Chapter 10(on Chapter 5 right now)
  • First Choice, Second Chance – beta edits
  • Ready When You Are – Outline
  • Jessica’s Story – Brainstorm
  • Into the Sun – 1st draft
  • Read: Everything Between Us(Mila Ferrera), Get a Clue(Jill Shalvis), Call on Me(Roni Loren), & Standing Stones(Beth Camp)
  • Knit: Dino Cap

Writing Wednesday: Freefalling

No RoW80 stuff today. Next round starts Monday. So, we’ll be back to that then. Today you just get a snippet. And last week I promised what came next. So, 8 paragraphs(7+1) from the very next scene.

God, that laugh. It did something to him every time he heard it. Right now, it had him wanting to pull her across the table so he could kiss her. He wouldn’t mind having her for dinner instead of whatever he had ordered. No, Jace, slow down, he ordered himself. First dates were for getting to know each other, not devouring each other.
Then, he saw her smile dim slightly. He wanted to do whatever he could to put it back on her face. So, he forced a grin. “She has kicked his ass at least once. During her first week on the job. Tate kept giving her the easy jobs, and may have made some comments that she should be in the office instead of a construction site. Her second day, and she called him out during a break. She shoved him a few steps back, and he tripped and fell on his ass. Oh, he was not happy, but while he was down, she kept cussing at him and telling him she’d signed on to do the job, and our father had faith in her, so why couldn’t he?”
“What did he do?” she asked, leaning forward, her chin in her hands.
Jace chuckled again. “The next day he gave her the toughest assignments. I think he was trying to prove her wrong, that she really couldn’t handle it. She had huge blisters on her hands and could barely move her arms enough to eat dinner that night, but she didn’t complain. After that first week, Tate never questioned her ability to do the job again.”
She laughed again, and the lights dancing in her eyes mesmerized him. He couldn’t stop himself. He had to touch her. Just cupping her chin and running his thumb over her jaw. Her eyes glazed, and her lips parted slightly. Did she want him to kiss her? He didn’t want to assume, but– she let out a slight whimper, and his gaze fell to those lips again.
“Please.”
The single word was barely more than a breath through those lips, but he understood. He leaned across the table, his hand still cupping her chin, and pressed his lips to hers. Just like before she met his advance, her tongue slipping between her lips to trace along his. He moaned against her mouth, then his hand slid along the line of her jaw, until he was cupping the back of her head.
He felt like he was spinning away from everything. He wasn’t sure whether to let go or try to hang on tight to her. Maybe they could freefall together.

We’ve been camping since Monday. It’s been nice, but I’m still ready to get home  tomorrow. Having some trouble with the campground’s wifi this morning, so using my phone as a hotspot. At least to get this done. So, quickly, I’ll recap my goals/progress for the last month.

Writing:

  • Freeing His Heart – finish 1st draft
  • Jace’s Story(really needs a title) – 1st draft – not quite there. 66909 words & at least 5 more scenes to finish.
  • Into the Sun – finish 1st draft – just over 15k on this. Probably have at least a couple more thousand to go. Don’t think it will be over 20k though.

I did write 79614 words for the month.

Editing:

  • Revise anything I get back from CP/beta readers – didn’t get anything back

Plotting:

  • Finish outlining Some Fools Never Learn(Hunter Family #2) this is done. Also nearly finished outlining Kelan’s story. I got 5849 words of plotting done for the month.

Reading:

  • Listen/read 20 books – 40/20 books. 5 of these were audio books

Crafting:

  • Knit: Schooner Hat – IMG_0611-0
  • Crochet: Women’s Peaked Cap IMG_0615IMG_0616

Not so bad even if I didn’t finish everything. For next month:

Plotting:

  • Ready When You Are(Kelan’s Story) – finish outline
  • Jessica’s Story – Outline

Writing:

  • Burning Bright – finish 1st draft
  • Guarding the Heart – 1st draft
  • Into the Sun – finish

Editing:

  • The Choice – beta edits(even tho I never heard back from the 2nd beta reader)
  • Law of Choice – 2nd round revisions & polish
  • anything else I get back from CPs/beta readers

Reading:

  • Listen/read 16 books
  • Read 1 craft/research book

Crafting:

  • Knit: Dino Cap
  • Crochet: Amazing Grace Blissful Beanie

2014 RoW80 Round-Up: Round 3

I don’t usually post on Thursdays, but this is the official end of Round 3, so I decided to save my round evaluation for today. Although I did my usual mid-week check-in yesterday. I’ll probably do a post on Sunday on my weekly progress even though it won’t be an official check-in. And next Wednesday, I’ll have my September wrap-up. With next round’s goals following the following Sunday. Have I ever mentioned I don’t take much of a break between rounds(the answer, I believe, is: yes)?

My original goals for this round(with comments in blue & red):

Writing:

  • Flames of Renewal – 1st draft finished this by the end of July. Ended up being a little over 61k.
  • Law of Choice(working title for The Choice prequel) – 1st draft Nope. I’m working on it right now and am just about to the midpoint. It’s sitting at almost 18.5k, so will probably end up under 40k(which was the plan).
  • Chasing the Ghost – pick back up(about 11-12k already written) ended up not picking this back up. But, it in the plan for next round.
  • Stained Snow – get ready to publish – nope, not at all. I’m actually going to do another read through of this then decide what to do.
  • Flames of Redemption – send to betas yes, well one. Only one person offered to read it. Once I get it back from her, I’ll start working through it.
  • The Choice – send to CP and hopefully edit sent but still waiting to get it back from her. Like Redemption, once I get it back, I’ll work it into my schedule to make any changes
  • Stained Blood(follow-up to Stained by Ashes) – Outline outlined & set aside. I might pick it up before the end of the year but most likely sometime in January.
  • Flames of Retribution(Flames #3 – Mark’s story for anyone who’s read #1) – outline yes, and 1st draft written. it ended up at almost 84.5k
  • Fantasy story idea – flesh out & outline – working on the outlining right now
  • Pirates story idea – flesh out & outline haven’t even started on this yet.
  • Rick & Leann(short story) – finish finished this back in the middle of August. Working on cleaning it up right now.

This round was mostly good for these goals. I also plotted out some other stories that weren’t on this list of goals. And worked on things I didn’t plan to. Which is pretty much the reason for what I didn’t accomplish. Next round may be more about sticking to the plan.

Reading:

  • Listen to 3 audiobooks I’ve listened to 9.
  • Read 27 fiction books I’ve read 55. Some short stories, some novellas, some full-length novels, and some collections.
  • Read 3 writing craft/research books  I read 3.

Crafting:

  • Knit: 9 projects – Finished 8. I have 1 more I want to get to this month.
  • Crochet: 6 projects –Finished 4. One I had to set aside because I ran out of yarn. The other I plan to start today.

That’s it for today. Like I said, I’ll have my monthly wrap-up next week(when the month is over) and next round’s goals up after that.
