Sunday Summary: On Fire

That title doesn’t only describe my writing progress this week. Yesterday morning we met some friends for breakfast. We’d been planning to go to Erie and get groceries and some other things. When we were in the parking lot ready to go home, the fire radio in our truck went off, calling the department my husband volunteers with to assist another local one(which is actually the one that handles where we live, but he was a member of the one in town well before we moved here and has stayed). Anyway, the address was for right behind our house. So, he dropped us at the end of the driveway and continued down to the fire. He was there for about five hours and said it was a total loss, but everyone got out okay.

Smoke from our porch

Taken walking up our driveway.

We did end up going to get groceries, just a lot later and closer than we’d planned.

The boy decided only playing with legos isn’t creative enough for him. he had to mix and match them together with his bumblebee transformer car.

As I said above, my writing progress has been on fire this week as well.

Plotting:

  • Primary: Heart of Christmas(BC Security 3.5) – write back stories, plot summary, and complete Story Toolkit – 1496 words on Alaina’s back story, 649 on Caelen’s back story.  13 paragraphs(hand-written)732 words on Brock’s back story. Short summary(1 sentence) written. Medium summary(1 paragraph) writtenLong summary(3 paragraphs) written. 3150 words so far this month
    • Alaina wants a future with Caelen but with someone interfering in their lives, this Christmas might be all they get. *rough, 1 sentence summary
  • Secondary: Still Burning(Hunter Family #4) – Brainstorm

Writing:

  • Primary: Stay a Little Longer – add 45000 words/finish 38 scenes – 29656 words/45000, 29/38 scenes for the month. 9293 words/11 scenes this week. I wrote 5k on this just Tuesday morning. The words were definitely flowing.
    • Her chest felt like it ripped open as he turned and left. She wanted to call him back, wanted to apologize, whatever it took to keep another person from walking away from her. But, no, this was the right thing. The only thing she could do. She had to do whatever she could to be here for her kids.
  • Secondary: Side Projects – 5000 words, edit Chapter 1 of Patrick & Sarah & Chapter 1 of Tavin & Haiwee, read through 9 chapters of Snow White Twist(there’s actually 10, but I read through chapter 1 in February) – 3349/5000 words so far this month. 1014 this week. 63/63 comments applied to Patrick & Sarah & posted to Patreon. And sent chapter 2 to beta.  51/51 comments applied to Tavin & Haiwee, have read through 9/9 in Snow White Twist. and I already have one reader lined up for this. If any else would be interested in reading a f/f retelling of Snow White(about 21000 words), let me know. I should have it revised and ready by the end of the month. And I got ideas for 2 more stories. If you read Wednesday’s Wippet selection, you’ll probably know what one of them is. The other just popped into my head while waiting for the kids’ bus one day and won’t leave me alone now.
    • Midas’ Daughter – 235 words – “Yes, sir,” Flip said even as he felt like his insides were shredded. He’d wanted to see Calla again, but he could not be the reason his father’s world was destroyed even more. He’d have to stay away.
    • Patrick & Sarah – 123 words – “It was just a dream,” Sarah told the younger boy. “You know your brother would not do that. He is not a demon. It was just part of your dream.” *sure, Sarah, keep telling yourself that.
    • Tavin & Haiwee – 146 words – But, that did not answer his question. And the man spit more words out, but Haiwee only stood straighter. Tavin wished he knew what they said and could join in the conversation. If only to save Haiwee from some of the hatred Tavin could see on the man’s face.
    • Roman – 120 words – She shivered. He was so glad he could still make her do that, even after all this time. Even after what they’d just found out. That day they’d wed, he’d promised her love, a home, family. He’d given her as much of the first two as he could. But, the last…he’d failed there.
    • Dougal & Shae – 161 words – Shae walked into her older brother’s house and instantly felt a weight drop from her shoulder. She was amazed how it could do that. Even more than walking into her own–well, her parents’ really–home. Her sister-in-law, Chrissa, turned from the sink. Her eyes looked tired, and Shae saw dark circles under them.
    • Mason & Lila – 122 words – He smiled even though it hurt his face, and his heart a bit. “You’re going to get your big break as soon as we turn eighteen and leave me in the dust for Nashville, aren’t you?” *Actually it’s gonna happen before that. Sorry, Mason.
    • Jacob & Matthew – 79 words – But, if it ever came out into the open, they would be done for.
    • Hang On – 30 words – “I got distracted. It’s not a big deal.” Except I’d been getting distracted a lot lately. Mostly because of thinking about him. But, I wasn’t going to tell him that.

Editing:

  • Primary: Stained Blood – 10 new scenes & apply CP edits to 40 scenes – 4/10 new scenes finished this month. 6/40 scenes edited. 3460 words added this month. 1902 this week.
    • “You aren’t…you’re not going to tell anyone. Are you?” His voice quivered as if he feared the answer to that.
“What would I tell them, Jacob?” he asked. “I don’t know a damn thing.”
  • Secondary: Flames of Renewal(if I get back from CP) – complete CP edits
    • In the Moonlight – start revisions

Blogging:

  • A-Z posts – draft 24 posts – 5/24 for the month. 666 words on E post. 894 words on F post. 708 words on G post. 2105 words this week. I’m going to draft a week’s worth then go back and edit them. Hopefully that way they’ll all be ready at least a week in advance.
  • A-Z posts – edit & format 27 posts – Edited 5/27(almost forgot about the theme reveal post) posts. A, B, C, & D are ready to go, other than adding link back to previous one), will schedule once my Theme reveal goes live.

Reading:

  • Listen: 8 books – 3/8 for the month, 0 since last check-in
    • King’s Cage(Victoria Aveyard) – On Chapter 28. I only have about an hour left to listen to.
  • Read: 31 books – 16/31 for the month, 6 this week.
    • Crimson Stain(Jim Fisher) – this is a true crime story about an Amish man who killed his wife not very far from where we live(It happened when I was about 8 years old). Reading this when I finish the rest of the books on my weekly list. On page: 181/314(not counting all the end notes & index)
    • Hammer of the Gods(Christina Ochs) – this is book 3 in her Desolate Empire series. I got the boxed set, but I’ve already read the first 2 separately, so I jumped right to this one on my phone. I’ll read it in the between moments. I’m on Chapter 12/166(If I counted right. The chapters are labeled with POV characters’ names instead of numbers).
    • The Ranger(Monica McCarty) – Read this on Monday. Really enjoyed it.
    • Wanderlust(Roni Loren) – I started this one after setting several others aside(ones my MIL had given to me, and they just didn’t grab me). I’ve actually read it before when it was part of an anthology, but I’ll always re-read a Roni Loren book. I finished reading it last night. It was a pretty quick one, but just as good as I remember(though there was one detail I believe was changed).
    • First and First(Santino Hassell) – Finished this one Wednesday night. Loved it.
    • Fast Connection(Santino Hassell & Megan Erickson) – I loved this one, too.
    • Against the Edge(Kat Martin) – started this Thursday night. Enjoyed it.
    • Ever After(Kete Serine) – started this Saturday afternoon. Finished it Saturday night. Really enjoyed it.
    • The Beltane Kiss(Denise D Young) – Started this Saturday night. At 33%

Crafting:

  • Knit: Georgian Lace Cap – started this on Monday. Have 4/4 rounds knitted for the brim. 36/40 rounds knitted for cap lace section. Almost finished round 37 but ran out of yarn. I got more yarn yesterday, so I’ll be able to finish it.
  • Crochet: Cross-over Long DC Hat – started this one Wednesday afternoon. Have 17/28 rounds crocheted for hat.
  • Loom: Ambrosia Love Scarf & Last Minute Slouchy Hat – I finished the scarf on Sunday.

Writing Wednesday: Charging Into the Week

So, this week is going pretty well so far. I’ve actually changed up how I’m going through my goals. I have a weekly goal to get to for each of my projects. A certain scene for drafting, adding 1000 new words to my editing project(though maybe I should change to scene goal as well), and finished a back story for plotting. Then, there’s my side projects. I’d been trying to get to a little of each of these every day. Splitting my morning time between drafting, editing, & plotting. And spending the afternoon sprint time on side projects.

Well, starting yesterday, I decided to change that. For now, I’m going to work on my drafting project until I reach the weekly goal. Then, I’ll move on to editing then plotting. And if I still have time for the week, onto my side projects. As of right now, I have 2 more scenes to write in Stay a Little Longer. I’m hoping to at least get close to the end of this during this afternoon’s sprint. I’ve added 3 scenes into what I was going to write, so that may not happen. But, either way I should be able to start editing tomorrow. And should still be able to meet my goal of finishing the draft by the end of the month.

But, for right now, it’s WiPPet Wednesday again, and I’m bringing you another snippet from Stay a Little Longer. I have 7 paragraphs for today(3+8+2+1-7). Jess and Terrall have run into each other a couple other times, but they haven’t really spoken too much at this point. He didn’t expect to run into her at the lawyer’s office or what she’s about to tell him.

Something in his face softened at that, and he brushed that thumb over her cheek again. “Did someone else hurt you? Is that why you’re here? I hope you take them to the cleaners, if that’s the case.”
She let out a watery laugh. “Not exactly. No money involved in this case. Just my sanity. And my son’s happiness.”
He jerked back as if he’d been slapped. “You have a son?”
She met his eyes, then. This was something she wouldn’t be ashamed about. She’d made mistakes, a lot of them—pretty much every man she’d fallen for—but she loved her children. “I have two,” she said. “And a daughter.”
He stumbled back, coming to his feet, and rubbed his hand over his mouth. Then, his gaze dropped to her hands. She didn’t wear jewelry, especially not when she was working in the vet’s office.
“Jess,” Brian said from the hallway. “You can come back now.”
She stood and moved past Terrall who was still just staring at her. In shock, she thought, not derision. But who knew? She’d been wrong about men before.

Why is he so surprised? Will it change how he looks at her? What will they do next?

On to my progress for the week so far:

Plotting:

  • Primary: Heart of Christmas(BC Security 3.5) – write back stories, plot summary, and complete Story Toolkit – 427 words on Alaina’s back story for this month, 0 since last check-in
  • Secondary: Still Burning(Hunter Family #4) – Brainstorm

Writing:

  • Primary: Stay a Little Longer – add 45000 words/finish 38 scenes – 16662 words/45000, 15/42 scenes for the month. 10089 words/9 scenes since last check-in
  • Secondary: Side Projects – 5000 words, edit Chapter 1 of Patrick & Sarah– 1528/5000 words so far this month. 418 words since last check-in. 25/63 comments applied to Chapter 1.

Editing:

  • Primary: Stained Blood – 10 new scenes & apply CP edits to 40 scenes – 0/10 scenes finished this month. 0/40 scenes edited. 458 words added this month. 0 since last check-in
  • Secondary: Flames of Renewal(if I get back from CP) – complete CP edits
    • In the Moonlight – start revisions

Blogging:

  • A-Z posts – draft 24 posts – 2/24 for the month. 508 words on D post, 361 since last check-in. Finished D.
  • A-Z posts – edit & format 26 posts

Reading:

  • Listen: 8 books – 3/8 for the month, 2 since last check-in
    • In Her Sights(Robin Perini) – enjoyed this one.
    • Need You for Keeps(Marina Adair) – finished this one last night. Really enjoyed it(and listened to the end as a break from the emotional rollercoaster I was reading).
    • King’s Cage(Victoria Aveyard) – just started this one this morning. On Chapter 3.
  • Read: 31 books – 5/31 for the month, 3 since last check-in
    • Hope Burns(Jaci Burton) – enjoyed this one, though the resolution seemed a little too, I don’t know, rushed I guess.
    • Gone to Die(Stacy Green) – I had some issues with this one. Some of it felt out of character. And I just went “of course, the sadistic killer was raised by her killer truck driver father. Because truck drivers are always criminals.” That portrayal bothers me. My husband was driving truck when I met him, and I just…ugh, it irritates me.
    • Crimson Stain(Jim Fisher) – this is a true crime story about an Amish man who killed his wife not very far from where we live(It happened when I was about 8 years old). Reading this when I finish the rest of the books on my weekly list.
    • Lucky Break(Carly Phillips) – I liked this one okay. Probably wouldn’t have finished the trilogy, though, if I hadn’t had all three books. Still, it was a light read.
    • History is All You Left Me(Adam Silvera) – I’m on page 235/292. This had me crying within 50 pages. And a couple pages later, I was laughing again. I actually had to take a break and listen to the end of a romance. This was breaking my heart so bad. There are some downsides to being such an emotional reader.

Crafting:

  • Knit: Georgian Lace Cap – started this on Monday. Have 4/4 rounds knitted for the brim. 0/40 rounds knitted for cap lace section.
  • Crochet: Cross-over Long DC Hat
  • Loom: Ambrosia Love Scarf & Last Minute Slouchy Hat – I finished the scarf on Sunday. wp-1488797998936.jpg

Sunday Summary: Charging Ahead

I’ve been updating my progress for my goal list as the week has gone along. Easier than trying to remember everything at the end of the week. And less I need to do before posting. 😉

Thursday some of us who used to sprint under the RoW80 hashtag decided to pick it up again. Of course, my husband and I were out shopping that day. So, I missed most of the sprint. But did start a new side project(it’s added to the list below) on my phone on my way home. Now, Friday, I got a lot of words written during the sprint writing on each side project for ~5 minutes(though often I’d keep writing for a minute or two before I reset the timer for the next story)

Yesterday, husband and son went to a hunting expo with some friends up in Erie. He dropped the girl and me off at the bookstore on the way through. And I realized the problem with following so many book people on twitter. All these books I’ve seen recommended, but I can’t get all of them. *sigh*. I did get the next book in a series I’ve started that I’ve had trouble finding. And History Is All You Left Me(Adam Silvera) – which is one of those highly recced books. And resisted getting any others.

I have a wide range of reading interests.

I have a wide range of reading interests.

Plotting:

  • Primary: Heart of Christmas(BC Security 3.5) – write back stories, plot summary, and complete Story Toolkit – got 427 words written on Alaina’s back story.
  • Secondary: Still Burning(Hunter Family #4) – Brainstorm
My plan for the year

My plan for the year

Writing:

  • Primary: Stay a Little Longer – add 45000 words/finish 33 scenes – 6573/45000 words. Finished 6/37 scenes. 4 of those were added in as I went.
    • He hated the tear that coursed down her cheek. Damn it. He hadn’t meant to make her cry.
  • Secondary: Side Projects – 5000 words, edit chapter 1 of Patrick & Sarah – 1110/5000 words. Edited through 17/63 scenes(not counting the two I did in February). And read through 2/9 chapters in Snow White Twist
    • Midas’ Daughter – 235 words – He hadn’t caught them there together. That was the most important part. Flip wasn’t exactly sure what the old man would have done if he had caught them, but he couldn’t imagine it would be even close to giving his blessing. *Flip has good reason to be worried, even if all they did was kiss. Her father isn’t exactly understanding.
    • Patrick & Sarah – 97 words(which includes those 17 changes I edited through) – “Whoa,” Patrick Bailey yelled to the team of horses, yanking back on the reins, not caring they dug into his hands, when a little figure dashed out in front of him. His heart slammed against his ribs, sweat slicking his hands as he sawed on the reins again. What if his touch wasn’t enough to bring the two farm horses to a halt? *new opening paragraph
    • Tavin & Haiwee – 287 words – She let out that laugh again. “He does like to give us his wisdom. Whether we want it or not.” *She’s talking about her brother here, who you’ll know if you’ve read Stained by Ashes
    • Roman – 229 words – “I won’t ever lay a hand on you, Tereza. Not in anger or malice. I promise you that.” *a little soon for her to actually believe him.
    • Dougal & Shae – 301 words – And the woman of his dreams showed up. Only for her to hate his guts. He let out a sigh. *Oh, poor Dougal. Though hate might be a strong word. 😉
    • Mason & Lila – 303 words – Mason rolled his eyes toward the ceiling. “Your sources, Bri? Huh, I wonder who that could be. Does her name maybe start with Ash and you try to pretend you don’t want to stick your tongue down her throat?” *oh, best friends. Aren’t they great?
    • Jacob & Matthew – 198 words – Jacob shifted on the mattress and reached across it. He didn’t open his eyes until he touched nothing but sheet. He blinked up at the ceiling then sat up, letting the thin sheet pool at his waist. *this story was inspired by a new character I introduced in rewriting Stained Blood. And the reason I’d struggled when trying to give Jacob his own story. I was trying to put him in a box he didn’t belong in.

Editing:

  • Primary: Stained Blood – 10 new scenes & apply CP edits to 40 scenes – started 1/10 scenes. 458 words
    • Something down the street caught his attention. Jacob was standing down in the street, his hands on someone’s shoulders. Matthew, he realized after a moment. He was the only man in town who dressed any dandier than Barrett himself. Barrett smiled a little at that thought and brushed a hand down his brocade vest. He started toward them then realized they were arguing. Jacob shook his head vigorously, but Matthew nodded and put his hands on Jacob’s shoulders. Then, he cupped the other man’s cheek, only for an instant. Then, they were stepping back from each other, Jacob’s shoulders slumping slightly.
  • Secondary: Flames of Renewal(if I get back from CP) – complete CP edits – not back yet
    • In the Moonlight – start revisions – I’ll start this when I finish Stained Blood, unless I get Flames of Renewal back first

Blogging:

  • A-Z posts – draft 24 posts – added 151 words to finish my ‘C’ post. Wrote 147 words for ‘D’ post.
  • A-Z posts – edit & format 26 posts

Reading:

  • Listen: 8 books – 1/8 books
    • Accidentally Hers – had some issues with this one. I mentioned it in Wednesday’s post. Really didn’t like how they handled the drunk driving issue(this is a sensitive issue for me). I was fairly satisfied with the romance part of the book, but that issue bugged me.
    • In Her Sights(Robin Perini) – Started this Friday. Enjoying it.
  • Read: 31 books – 2/31 books
    • Passenger(Alexandra Bracken) – really enjoyed this one. Though some spots were really detail-rich, maybe a little too much for me. And I almost threw my kindle near the end. Glad the second book is out already and I don’t have to wait after that ending.
    • Cleon Moon(Lindsay Buroker) – loved this one. Really like how the character arcs are developing. And the relationships. And seriously, I just love her writing.
    • Gone to Die(Stacy Green) – I got about halfway through this Friday night. And…I don’t know. I just don’t feel invested in the characters, or really, what happens to them. I don’t know if it’s because it’s been a while since I read the last book or it’s just not what I’m in the mood for right now.
    • Hope Burns(Jaci Burton) – started Saturday morning. Got 110 pages in. Enjoying it, though I’m not quite sucked in. So, today I’ll be starting:
    • The Marriage Merger(Jennifer Probst) – this is one my MIL gave me. It looks like it’s book 3 in a series & about a billionaire hero, so we’ll see if I finish it or not. If I end up setting it aside(or finish it today), I’ll get back to the other ones. *So, I started to read this. Got a few pages in and just went “nope”. And she hasn’t even met the “hero” yet. Just didn’t even care.

Crafting:

  • Knit: Georgian Lace Cap
  • Crochet: Cross-over Long DC Hat
  • Loom: Ambrosia Love Scarf & Last Minute Slouchy Hat – 12 rows of the Ambrosia Love Scarf on Wednesday and another 32 on Saturday.

I’ve made some good progress for the beginning of the month. Hoping to at least turn some of that red to green as the month goes on.

New Year, New Month, New Start

I had planned to put a new set of goals for the year, quarter, month, week in yesterday’s post. But, that post was already getting pretty long. So, I decided to save it for today. I’m going to break each set of goals up the way I usually do, into writing/plotting/editing…and so on. Now, time to get to them:

Sunday Summary: Ending & Beginning

2016 ended last night. And I…slept right through it. Actually I fell asleep on the couch before 8, woke up around 10 or so, went to bed and fell back asleep around 11 maybe. Oh well. It’s been quite a few years since I actually stayed up until midnight on New year’s Eve. We don’t go anywhere. After running around and visiting everyone over Christmas, neither of us really feel like being social for new years as well. Add on to that, this stupid cough I’ve been fighting off since before Christmas, and staying home definitely sounded better.

Yesterday, we decided to go up to Erie to put gift cards we got to use(the kids have a bunch to Toys R us, I got one for Home Depot, and we need a new vacuum). We’re halfway there and realize we left all the gift cards at home. Never fails. We still went but just got lunch and groceries before heading home. We may go back up today and hopefully remember to take the gift cards with us this time.

I’ll post my progress for the week and go over how my December and overall 2016 goals went today. And I’ll at least post my 2017 goals here. We’ll see how long the post is before I decide what else I’ll post now and what I’ll save for another post. First, for the weekly progress:

  • Write: 5000 words – 5380/5000 words. Not bad since I wasn’t sure I’d make even 5000 for the week.
    • Defending the Heart – 1216 words – He’d stepped through the doorway before he processed the frisson of tension. Then, his back was slammed against the wall, an arm across his throat. He very nearly neutralized the attack before he looked into those deep brown eyes he knew so well. Something was different about them now, though. They were glassy, like he wasn’t really seeing Piers, like he wasn’t really there.
    • Crash and Burn – 1028 words – “Stefan!” she cried. “You weren’t supposed to be back for a couple weeks. Why didn’t anyone tell me you were home?”
She knew tears were streaming down her cheeks, but she didn’t even care as her oldest brother’s arms wrapped around her.
    • Not Meant to Be – 1034 words – “I don’t know what you want to hear,” he finally said. “Little Toby was a punk. He got himself into trouble without a thought of who else he might hurt.”
“I’m sure that’s not true,” she said, and the words squeezed his heart.
“It is,” he insisted. “I spent half a year in juvie when I was thirteen, Denise. And it wasn’t the first time I’d seen the inside of a cell.”
    • Stay a Little Longer – 1076 words – His mouth twisted up at her ex’s name, and she knew he didn’t have too many pleasant thoughts about the man, either. He tried to pull some petty shit through the court systems, and it riled her lawyer up.
    • In the Moonlight – 1026 words – “Don’t worry,” I said, drawing back. “I get it.” I also felt like I was enclosed in ice suddenly. It was probably the only reason I wasn’t completely falling apart right now. “You said you loved me, but that’s apparently as conditional as it’s always been from my parents. Don’t worry about me. Just go do what you need to. I’ll see you when you get back.”
  • Playing with Fire – This wasn’t on the list on Sunday, but these characters have decided not to leave me alone. I have Jeremiah, Corrin, and Silas’ back stories all finished. I only have 1 more left to do then I can start actually plotting. I also wrote a little piece for them(though only Jeremiah and Silas show up) yesterday for Stream of Consciousness Saturday.
  • Side Projects: Add 2000 words – 904/2000 – as  said Wednesday, I didn’t think I’d meet this goal. I did manage to finish Snow White Twist, though. Of course, I’d hoped to do that by the end of October. But, now I can revise it and maybe submit it this year.
  • Listen: Finish Winter & Stars Above – I finished both of these and also On Her Father’s Grave(Kendra Elliot). Enjoyed them all.
  • Read: Finish Assassin’s Heart(Sarah Ahiers), Kiss Me Like This(Bella Andre), Whiskey Tango Foxtrot(Liliana Hart), Labyrinth Lost(Zoraida Cordova), The Seduction Hypothesis(Delphine Dryden), Cutting Edge(Allison Brennan), He’s So Fine(Jill Shalvis), The Hawk(Monica McCarty), & Law Man(Kristen Ashley) – I ended up setting Assassin’s Heart aside. Finished Kiss Me Like This(really enjoyed), Whiskey Tango Foxtrot(also really enjoyed), Labyrinth Lost(enjoyed), The Seduction Hypothesis(enjoyed), Cutting Edge(liked), and am almost halfway through He’s So Fine.
  • Crochet: Charmed Cloche – finished this wp-1483275981357.jpg
  • A to Z Challenge: Plot – still no more progress on this.

Not a bad week over all. As for how December went:

Plotting:

  • Loving the Devil(new standalone idea) – Outline – I got through the back stories and plot summary
  • Still Burning(Hunter Family#4/Flames#6) – Outline – didn’t even start. Will be working on Playing with Fire(Rileys #1) first
  • Stained Blood – re-plot – still waiting on this

Writing:

  • Write 12000 words each on: didn’t meet this goal on any of them, though I made it at least halfway on all.
    • Defending the Heart(BC Security #3) – 6623 words
    • Crash and Burn(Flames #5.75) – 8369 words
    • Not Meant to Be(Gilbert, Co #6) – 7268 words
    • Stay a Little Longer(Kurztown #5) – 7580 words
    • In the Moonlight – 6788 words
  • Side Projects:
    • 2000 words each on
      • Midas’ Daughter
      • Dance with the Devil(or finish 1st draft)

    • 500 words each on:
      • Patrick & Sarah
      • Tavin & Haiwee
      • Roman
      • Dougal & Shae

Revising:

  • Guarding the Heart(BC Security #1) – finish polishing – got this done
  • Let It Begin(Kurztown #2.5) – Revisions, maybe polishing(depending on how long revisions take) – did the pre-revisions, then set it aside. Not going to pick it back up until I’ve gotten Law of Choice & Scars and All through the CP stage.

Reading:

  • Listen: 9 audiobooks – 8/9 audiobooks
  • Read: 31 books – 27/31 books

Crafting:

  • Crochet: Dashes Beanie, Round Coaster, Grumpy Octopus Coffee Cup Cozy, and Charmed Cloche – finished all of these.

Overall, it was a pretty good month. A couple things I didn’t get to, but that’s okay.

As for the year:

Outline:

  • Protecting the Heart(BC Security #2)
  • Rylan & Kirsten(Gilbert, CO #4.75)
  • Kurztown #4(Break on Me)
  • Defending the Heart(BC Security #3)
  • Carlos & Tereza(Gilbert, CO #5)
  • Chris & Reagen #5(this may get switched with #4)

I plotted out a few others as well, Stay a Little Longer(Kurztown #5 – still not Chris & Reagen’s story, though) and Not Meant to Be(Gilbert, CO #6). I had over 39,000 words in plotting.

Write:

  • Love Who You Love(Kurztown #3)
  • By the Gun(western standalone) I started, but set it aside when it just wasn’t working.
  • Protecting the Heart
  • Ready When You Are(Hunter Family #3)
  • Rylan & Kirsten
  • Kurztown #4
  • Buried Secrets(standalone)never even started this one
  • Defending the Heartup to 25,447 words on this one.
  • Brann’s Story(Flames 5.5)up to 24625 words on this one.
  • Carlos & Tereza
  • Chris & Reagen – this got pushed back

I worked on some other stories that hadn’t made this list. Ended up writing around 694,000 words for the year.

Edit:

  • Flames of Retribution – I got through this one. it’s on the list to send to CP, but there’s 2 in the series ahead of it on that list.
  • My Way to You – Started these, but set it aside until I catch up to it.
  • Flames of Recompense – set aside until I catch up
  • Freeing His Heart – set aside until I catch up
  • Flames of Restoration – set aside until I catch up
  • Rylan & Kirsten – set aside until I catch up

I also edited Guarding the Heart

Publish:

  • Stained Snow
  • Healing the Heart
  • Stained by Ashes
  • Stained Blood – pushing this one back.

*This will depend on getting things back, but I’m hoping to get at least these out.

Reading:

  • Listen: 25 books – 87/25 books
  • Read: 300 books – 293/300 books. Fell a little short on this one.

Crafting:

  • Knitting: 12 projects – 8/12
  • Crochet: 12 projects – 10/12
  • Loom: 12 projects – 3/12

I didn’t get to everything for the year. But, I still made a lot of progress. And this post is already pretty long, so I’m going to save the new goals for tomorrow.

November Wrap-Up

I thought about including this with my mid-week post, but I decided not to for a couple reasons. One, it was already nearing 1000 words, and I didn’t want it to end up too long. And, I also hadn’t figured out my goals for December yet. Plus, waiting until today gave me a little more time to get some more things crossed off.

Overall, it was a pretty good month, at least writing-wise. Between my main projects, side projects, and 2 editing projects, I ended up with a little over 67,000 words for the month. 58778 of that was toward NaNoWriMo.  A definite win there.

I got Healing the Heart ready to publish. It releases tomorrow, but you can pre-order it now.

Both of my submissions to World Unknown Review were rejected for this year, even though I got some good comments about them. And I’m working on fleshing out one of them into a longer short story/novelette/novella(depending on how long it ends up).

What else? Not too sure. So, I’ll just get to laying out my itemized progress:

Plotting:

  • Stay a Little Longer – outline
  • Stained Blood – Re-plot – still waiting to hear back from my CP before I throw some other ideas I had for this at her.
  • And I just started brainstorming a new standalone idea. Hoping to have it ready to write once I finish drafting In the Moonlight.

Writing:

  • Write 11000 words each on:
    • Defending the Heart(BC Security #3) – 11082 words
    • Crash & Burn(Flames #5.75) – 11974 words
    • Not Meant to Be(Gilbert, Co #6) – 11092 words
    • Stay a Little Longer(Kurztown #5) – 13548 words
    • In the Moonlight -11082 words
  • Dance with the Devil – get to 24500 words/1st draft – 24742/24500 words. Have at least a few more scenes to finish this.

  • Read: 29 books(already finished 2)– 22/29 books. Not as many as I would have liked.

  • Crochet: Tiny Jellyfish – Done wp-1478702323606.jpg

A lot of blue, a little green, and hardly any red. Just the way I like it. Now, to look forward to December:

October Wrap-Up & November Goals

I meant to include this with my Writing Wednesday post, but well, I forgot. This is not an unusual occurrence for me, so no one should be too shocked. 😉

October, I believe, was actually a pretty good month. We’ll see how good once I actually go through my progress:

Plotting:

  • Toby & Denise – finish outlining – this is finished
  • Jess & Terrall – outline – didn’t have this finished before the end of October, but it is now.
  • Stained Blood – re-plot – still waiting to hear from CP first.

Writing:

  • Closing Time – finish 1st draft – got this done at the beginning of the month. 9553 words written during October.
  • Break on Me – add 30000 words – 30634/30000 words written & finished 1st draft!
  • In the Moonlight – add 4000 words – 4767/4000 words
  • Defending the Heart – add 4000 words – 4859/4000 words
  • Toby & Denise – add 4000 words – 5341/4000 words
  • Dance with the Devil – get to 22500 words – 21996/22500 – fell short here
  • Snow White Twist – finish 1st draft – nope. It’s at 15938 right now.
  • Patrick & Sarah – get to 2000 words – 2126/2000 words
  • Tavin & Haiwee – get to 1500 words – 1565/1500 words. And we’ve just met Haiwee’s brother, who makes a few appearances in Stained by Ashes, too. 🙂
  • Roman – get to 2500 words – 2734/2500 words. These ones seem to roll right out.
  • Dougal & Shae – 500 words – 795/500 words. Another one that’s rolling out well.

Obviously the writing has been going well. I also added 4282 words to Crash and Burn, another ‘novella’ in the Flames series(takes place around the same time as Closing Time)

Revising:

  • Guarding the Heart – finish 1st revisions & read through – Did both of these and the second round of revisions. have the polishing on hold for the moment
  • Healing the Heart – beta edits if I end up getting them back before the end of the month(have to send it out first though) – I did send this out. And I got it back on the last day of the month. I do have them started now, though.

Reading:

  • Listen: 7 audiobooks – 8/7 audiobooks.
  • Read: 28 books – 27/28. Only 1 short this month. And I finished that one the next day.

Crafting:

  • Knit: Unleashed Hat – finished this
  • Crochet: Fall Leaves – finished one of these & also a few dish cloths.

Not a bad month at all. Only one red item, and that’s currently out of my hands. Now, for November goals:
