Home of a mother, wife, writer

Maybe not quite as fast as I’d originally planned, but I am making forward progress. I’d hoped to have through Chapter 10(of 40) of Flames of Knowledge written by now. I’m on Chapter 7. There are also now 42 chapters. And I’ve decided to scale back to only doing 1 chapter a day instead of 2. That means it’ll take me 2 months to finish the first draft. That’s not really that big of a deal really. I figure out that counting this one, I have 12 stories beyond the one I’m planning on publishing soon. I have time to get it done.

Not a whole lot happening this week. Kids went back to school on Wednesday. Husband went to work on Thursday(he’s been laid off since the end of November. There probably won’t be much work until the end of the month, but at least it’s something). Mother Nature decided to play a late April Fool’s joke and give us more snow. It’s not entirely unheard of in April, but really, we’ve had enough. Especially when it had been like 50F the day before.

Anyway, here’s my progress for the week

Color Code:

Finished/Monthly Goal Met

Progress

Nothing Done

Set Aside

Plotting:

Writing:

  • Primary: Flames of Knowledge – Chapter 21/42 – 10375/~35000 words
    • This week: Through Chapter 5/21 – drafted 6/10 chapters
      • “Did you just want to touch all my things, or is there a valid reason you’re here?” He didn’t meant to sound impatient, but he really wanted to get back to his canvas, now that he had a vision clear in his head.
Silas turned toward him and winked. “I wouldn’t mind touching your things, Connor, but I can only handle one Riley at a time. And Corrin’s taking up that spot.”
Connor’s face suddenly felt on fire. He hadn’t even realized there would be an innuendo for Silas to pick up. Of course, sometimes he thought the other man plucked them right out of the air. “That’s not what I meant.”

        • And there Silas goes, stealing the scene like usual. Of course, I’d been struggling with the scene until he showed up and got Connor out of his head.
  • Secondary: Side Projects – 3350 words – 848/3350 words
    • This week:
      • Kayla & Reese: 400 words – 421/400 words
      • Hawk: 400 words – 427/400 words
  • Tertiary: Jonas & Isaac – 15 pages – 3.625/15 pages
    • This week: 3.5 pages – 3.625/3.5 pages
  • By the Gun – 2000 words

Editing:

  • Primary: Stained Blood – Beta edits
  • Secondary: Flames of Renewal – Send to Betas(if anyone’s interested in giving feedback, let me know. You can find a summary here)
  • Tertiary: Short Story Collection
    • Mistaken Meeting
      • This week: edit last 2 scenes, polish – 3/2 scenes edited(split last scene into 2. This was one I wrote for Story a Day and added it into this draft). 49/49 items polished.

  1. Lot’s of progress! And slowing down sometimes is needed. You’re still moving forward, so way to go!

  2. Okay, I know it’s almost time for you to post your next update, but I enjoyed reading this one all the same! =D
