Sunday Summary: Cooling Down

You can tell Fall’s coming. Breaking out hooded sweatshirts in the morning and at night, and the pup(not such a pup, I guess, he’ll be 2 in November) tries to suck the body heat out anything he can by cuddling up close. I’m not complaining. I’d take the cooler weather over the heat of summer. You can always put on another layer. There’s only so much you can take off. 😉

My week got off to a rough start. Well, not the start so much. Despite Monday being a holiday, I made good progress. Then, came Tuesday. Yeah, we’ll just leave it at that. I took most of the day for reading. Wednesday I got  back on track and used Saturday to catch up on some goals. So, it ended up being a pretty good week after all.

Yesterday afternoon we went to a local community fair(I don’t think Pennsylvania has a state fair, but we do have a lot of county and community ones). Usually we go to the parade at this one, but my husband had to work in the morning, so we missed it this year. After we got there and walked around some of the barns, we got an elephant ear, funnel cake, and sugar waffles to split between the 4 of us. Then, we walked some more and visited with some of husband’s relatives who always bring their camper up for the fair. We went and got French fries after that then made our way out to come home. We ended up being there longer than I’d figured on, so it was late by the time we got home. But, it was a good day.

Now, for my progress for the week so far.

  • Primary: Green Hills & Smoky Fields: Book 1 – Story Toolkit – got through Initial Concept 1/18
  • Secondary: Plan out weekly Story a Day offeringsPlotted 6/25(guessing on this number right now) so far. I have the next 5 prompts written down, but haven’t done any plotting(though I did use two of them so far). On target.

  • Primary: Write 45000 words on 5 main projects(one almost complete) – 11886/45000 words Almost on target
    • Heart of Christmas – 2267 words and 1st draft is finished!
      • “Oh, aye,” he said. “Scatter me to the winds, was it? Don’t you worry. I heard. I will heed the warning.” He winked at Alaina, and she giggled.  *No one seems to take Declan’s threat seriously. Probably for good reason. 😉
    • Still Burning – 2715 words
      • “Uh huh,” Jai said as perceptive as ever. “And I suppose you’ll say the same thing about Jess.” Then, he held up his hands. “Not my business. You’re a full-grown man, and I know the beliefs we’ve instilled in you.”
Which had never been that sex before marriage was a sin. Both of them would be hypocrites in that case. Being responsible had been instilled, though. So was caring about the people you were with. “I’ve kept them in mind,” he said.
    • Whatever It Takes – 2417 words
      • “Don’t tell me no one else brought pie. I’m sure you made at least one.”
He let out a deep laugh. “Sure. But you can never have too much pie.”*My sentiments exactly, Carlos. 😉
    • High on Loving You – 1995 words
      • Morgan yearned to do just that. Enjoying a dinner with her. He couldn’t think of anything he wanted more than that. No, he thought, closing his eyes. There was one thing. Raina’s happiness. It didn’t matter what he wanted. She always had to come before that. It might be different if she had a mother who actually cared about her. But, that wasn’t their reality.
    • By the Gun – 1462 words
      • He didn’t know what that hesitation meant, but he didn’t want to turn her away, either. “Sure. Don’t see what it will hurt.”
  • Secondary: Write 10000 words on 10 side projects – 2656/10000 words On target
    • Patrick & Sarah – edited 2 scenes of Chapter 2; added 913 words to a new scene, edited last scene
    • Tavin & Haiwee – 184 words
    • Roman – 240 words
    • Dougal & Shae – 186 words
    • Jacob & Matthew – 291 words(weekly goal met)
    • Mike & Fadil – 309 words
    • Hawk – 274 words
    • Sean & Braeden – 256 words
    • Melanie & Garren – 188 words
  • Stretch: Write 50 pages on Jonas & Isaac project – 8/50 pages Near target

  • Primary: Edit Stained Blood as I get chapters back
  • Secondary: Edit Flames of Renewal when I get it back
  • Stretch: Edit Preggers short story once it’s finished – I decided not to add the final scene I was thinking of. Think where it’s at is good ending spot(still planning to write that scene for Story a Day, and might end up including it. But for now I’m considering this done)

  • Primary: Read 30 books – 7/30 Fell Off Target
    • The Trouble with Mistletoe(Jill Shalvis) – Started this Saturday afternoon. Finished it Sunday evening. Loved it.
    • Going Down Easy(Carly Phillips) – Started this Sunday evening. Finished it Sunday night. Liked it, but I’m kind of tired of the “hero was falsely accused of date rape in his past”. Because of course, the woman is always lying(do you hear the sarcasm there?). This was kind of addressed near the end, but still, it almost made me set the book aside.
    • Of Dreams and Rust(Sarah Fine) – Started this Monday morning. At 14%. Not sure if it’s because it’s been so long since I read the first book or what, but I find myself not really caring. So setting this aside until I finish the other books on this month’s list(or at least for the week). Then, I may try to pick it back up.
    • Hard as Steel(Laura Kaye) – Started this Monday afternoon. Tuesday afternoon. Liked it, but it didn’t feel like anything really happened.
    • Three Little Words(Susan Mallery) – Started this Tuesday afternoon. Finished it Wednesday evening.
    • Never Judge a Lady By Her Cover(Sarah MacLean) – Started this Wednesday evening. Finished this Friday night. Really enjoyed it.
    • See You Again(Kait Nolan) – Started this Saturday morning. Finished it Saturday afternoon. Loved it.
    • See No Evil(Allison Brennan) – Started this Saturday afternoon. On page 30/413
  • Secondary: Listen to 6 books – 1/6 Close to target
    • Prudence(Gail Carriger)  – Carrying this over from August. Finished this Wednesday afternoon. Really enjoyed it.
    • A Court of Wings and Ruin(Sarah J Maas) – Started this Thursday morning. On Chapter 10/84.
  • Stretch: Read 1 craft/research book – I did read a little more of The Story of the Irish Race for GH & SF.

    • Motive – More Jonas & Isaac, combined with Stream of Consciousness Saturday
    • Breaking Rules – A quick 100 words of dialogue without quotation marks(prompt was to break some rules).
  • Stretch: Post to Patreon 4x – 2/4 – posted a monthly writing update this week, & posted Chapter 2 of Patrick & Sarah’s story. On target

  1. I like the idea of running through dialog without quotations and such. Seems like it would allow for better flow and less tempation to micro edit.

You’re getting so close to your big goals! Awesome. 😀

  2. You gotta take time out to enjoy the local fair! Glad you had fun with the family and good job on the goals. Have a great week.
