Home of a mother, wife, writer

I’ve been working on several different WiPs this month. And I finished one of them on Friday. Not Meant to Be, which I first started back in October. This is book 6 in my Gilbert, CO series. And if you read Healing the Heart, this is Jared’s little sister’s story. The first draft only ended up around 55,000 words. I already have ideas for my threads to tie in through it, so it should end up longer after revisions, but for now it’s done.

The kids’ last day of school was Wednesday. It was only a half day, and a rainy one at that, so they spent the afternoon inside. Most of Thursday was spent outside, and yet they still managed to find something to fight about. If that’s going to keep up, it’s going to be a long summer. Hopefully, it won’t though.

It also seems to be bee season. I’ve had to chase 3 of them out of the house in 2 days. Bad enough having to deal with them outside. Stay out of my house!

And today is my niece’s 10th birthday. That’s really hard to believe. Especially since that mean’s in two months(- 1 day), my daughter will be ten as well. That…can’t be right. 😉

Anyway, here’s my progress for the week:

Plotting:

  • High on Your LoveBack stories, Plot summaries, Story Toolkit, Outline – Got Morgan’s(1084 words), Anna’s(1037 words) & Kacy’s(727 words) typed up. Wrote plot summaries.
  • Jayla & CarisaPlot summaries, Story Toolkit, Outline – Since I finished Not Meant to Be, I’ll be picking this one back up.

Writing:

  • Heart of Christmas(BC Security #3.5)Add 8000 words – 1697/8000 words
    • “Who said it’s a boy?” Eva asked from the seat behind Niall. “All Sean told you was that she had an admirer.” In the rearview mirror, she caught Eva’s wink toward her and smiled. “And, sweetheart,” she added, obviously to Declan, “she asked you to drop it. So, drop it. She’s right, it’s not your business.”
  • Still Burning(Hunter Family #4) – Add 10000 words – 4429/10000 words, 2309 words this week
    • And just maybe it would take her mind off this clusterfuck of emotions she couldn’t seem to set straight.
  • Not Meant to Be(Gilbert, Co #6) – Add 10000 words or finish 1st draft – 7628/10000 words, 4532 words this week & finished the 1st draft! I’ll have more to add during revisions(It’s only about 55,000 words right now), but for now, it’s done!!!
    • She moved over to him and pressed a kiss to his cheek. “You are a sweet man, Tobias Pedera.”
He laughed and kissed her lips. “I don’t know if they should put a delusional woman in a courtroom.”
  • By the Gun – Add 8000 words – 2014/8000 words – I was writing in the antagonist’s view point this week. And that’s quite disturbing.
    • That was a lie. He was as good at spotting them as he was spouting them.
  • Side Projects – Add 9000 words between them – 5466/9000 words, 4106 words this week
    • Midas’ Daughter – 347 words – Calla shook her head. That wasn’t true. It couldn’t be. “He doesn’t even like me. He barely looks at me.” *just keep telling yourself that, Calla
    • Sean & Braeden – 354 words – He opened the door and stepped inside, getting ready to call out. But, he was stopped by the sound of a familiar voice coming from the front parlor. One he hadn’t heard much on in the last couple years.
    • Mike & Fadil – 336 words – “You’ve been mooning,” Jaspar said. “Please tell me you at least got his number.” *nosy bosses
    • Patrick & Sarah – 268 words – The boy wrinkled his nose. “I don’t think she likes him. He tries to tell her what she should do, with us and for a job.” He leaned closer to Patrick and lowered his voice. “I don’t like him either. He’s not nice like you.” *Aw, I’m loving writing Will as a young boy.
    • Dougal & Shae – 405 words – Donovan grinned and clapped him on the shoulder. “Good man. Can’t wait to see you there.” *Oh, Donovan. Your sister is not going to thank you for this. Not yet, at least.
    • Jacob & Matthew – 565 words –  When they reached a table, he’d had enough. “Damn, Kline, what is wrong with you? Hit the bottom of the bottle a little too early last night?” *That line comes straight from Stained Blood, only now writing scene from Jacob’s POV
    • Hang On – 322 words – “Come on,” he said. “Grab on. Hang on,” he growled.
    • Roman – 286 words – From the way his look changed to horror, he hadn’t know that part. “He did what?” Carlos practically roared.
    • Preggers – 265 words – “It’s okay, Missy,” Lyndi said. “It does hurt, but so does thinking about him. And I can’t just make myself stop doing that, either.”
    • Hawk – 227 words – Then, from the truck, Mr. Bentley shouted, “Jeez, boy, just kiss him already and put him out of his misery.” 😀
    • Tavin & Haiwee – 361 words – Her head came up, and she saw the men riding in her direction. She didn’t like the look of them, like two wolves who had spent too much time without a pack, and no longer knew how to act within it. She drew back from the bank, hoping to fade into the trees before they spotted her.
    • Mason & Lila – 370 words – There wasn’t anything he could do about it. She’d chosen her dad and music over him. And he doubted it’d be the last time she did that. *Ah, the breaking of young love. And this short story is done!(though not with a very happy ending…though eventually they do stay together)

Editing:

  • Stained Blood – beta edits – edited Chapter 1/26(counting the epilogue as a chapter of its own).
  • Flames of Renewal – CP edits – still waiting
  • In the MoonlightPre-revisions & Revisions – Mapped out 32/32 chapters & highlighted different plot lines, wrote out a scene list/timeline to figure out how crammed together the story is. Made up note cards for sections of revision to concentrate on & pinned them to my board. Spread out the timeline about another week. It still only takes place over about a month, but it’s not quite as crammed together now. And added 32 words of world-building details. Added 4 new scenes(1987 words)
  • One Touch(formerly Snow White Twist)Beta edits, Polish, & Submit – still waiting to hear back from 2nd beta reader.
  • Dance with the Devil – Polish 6 chapters  – Polished 4/6 chapters
