Home of a mother, wife, writer

Welcome back to another edition of Weekend Writing Warriors, the blog hop for anyone who loves to write. I’m still sharing from Come Back Down, which I just finished drafting this morning. Trace & Birdie’s stories are now pretty much complete(though they’ll still play a rather big role in upcoming stories). Next up, after I write at least one short story for submission, will be Hawk’s story, or maybe Devil’s. They’ll be connected as well, so it will just be figuring out whose comes first. In honor of that, a little peek at them:

“You’re a bunch of fools if you think this will be over when the cops sweep through. The cops never do a damn thing.”

Something shifted in Hawk’s body as he approached Devil. “I know you’re still upset about your brother. I thought getting justice would help. The cops can’t do everything.”

“They didn’t do anything!” he shouted. “They’re not going to do anything this time either.”

“They will. Us getting in the middle won’t resolve anything.”

I may continue from this part next week.

Now that is a whole lot of story I want to read! Nicely done Fallon. (and, I agree with Shan!)

    • It’s actually something that was referenced in the first novella, Into the Sun. And will probably be dealt with more in the next 1.

  3. Sounds like he has reason to be angry, and like there’s quite a story behind it.

  4. Hmmm, interesting dilemma – take action now or wait to see if maybe the authorities can help? Enjoyed the excerpt!

  5. This betrays a deep lack of faith in police that I can identify with.

  6. Wow, high tension. Thanks for sharing.–Book Bling Blogger.

  7. Loads of tension. Perspective means so much, and right now, police inaction or over-action is is a hot topic. Good snippet.

  8. […] next story in this series). For now, here’s a little more, just a little past what I shared last week, but Birdie’s still watching the argument between Hawk and […]
