I was making really good progress through Monday. In fact, when I woke up yesterday morning, I didn’t even do any writing. I just caught up on blog posts instead. Because I’d worked on that day’s writing goals the night before. And it was probably a good thing. I had woken up around midnight with really bad heartburn. Still felt bad in the morning. And it didn’t seem to want to go away. I could hardly even drink my coffee because it was actually making me feel sick. I barely felt like eating anything(a very unusual occurrence for me). Seriously all I had to eat yesterday was a bagel for breakfast and some crackers at lunch. So, I mostly sat and read all day. Except for going outside with the kids since it was the first nice day in at least a week. I was finally feeling better, and almost hungry, by the time I went to bed(which despite nearly falling asleep on the couch at 8, I didn’t go to bed until after 11 because I was reading). Feeling a lot better today, but I’m pretty sure the Salsa chicken rice casserole(dinner Monday night) won’t be making it on the “make again” list.
The highlight of yesterday(other than reading a really good book) is that I got the rest of Stained Snow back from my CP. Even though I wasn’t feeling good, I may have done a happy dance in the driveway when I read her email. So, the rest of this week’s goals may be changing a bit.
First, this week’s WiPPet though. 13 paragraphs(5+7)+1(since this is likely the last one I’ll share from this one). I’m jumping ahead quite a bit from the last one. Kayla has gone to confront Adrian about something that happened earlier.
“Why did you kiss me?”
He wasn’t sure he could even answer. His mind had gone blank, and his breath was strangling him. She was just staring at him though, as if she couldn’t see his agony. Or just didn’t care.
“Adrian, seriously. Why the hell did you kiss me? You don’t like me. You’ve made that clear enough. Just because I could sympathize with your pain doesn’t mean you needed to kiss me.”
That finally cleared his head. “You really think that’s why I did it? Your uncle says you’re smart. I’m really starting to doubt that.”
He saw all the color flee from her cheeks at that. “You don’t have the right to call me stupid. I shouldn’t have come here. I’m sorry I interrupted you.”
She turned away, but he reached out to grab her arm. “No, Kayla, I’m sorry. You’re right, I shouldn’t have said that.” He sighed as she relaxed her stance and turned back toward him. “The kiss had nothing to do with that. I’ve wanted to do it since the first time I saw you.”
He saw the shocked expression in her eyes, felt an answering pull inside him. He hadn’t admitted that even to himself yet. But, he knew it was true.
“At Josh’s viewing? You didn’t want to kiss me. You wanted to interrogate me when I was grieving.”
He shook his head. “Not then. I was running one morning and saw you. You were leaning over a fence to pet a dog. I wanted you right then. I’ve never felt this so strong before.”
Her breath let out in a rush. “That was you. I thought maybe you were a creeper or something. You just kept staring at me.”
The laugh left him in a burst. “I couldn’t take my damn eyes off you.” He dropped his hand from her arm. “And about the viewing? I never wanted to interrogate you.” His fingers dug through his hair, as if gaining purchase there would allow him to hold on to his patience. “You unbalanced me even then, even before I recognized you from that other day. I was only there to observe. I wasn’t even going to talk to any of you.”
Heat replaced the confusion in her eyes. “You wanted me? You didn’t even know me.”
“Does that make any difference?”
Like I said, I made quite a bit of progress early in the week. Which made up for yesterday’s slacking off.
- Flames of Redemption: Finish round 2 revisions – almost there. Only 3 more scenes to go.
- The Choice: have to do some research for one of the scenes – haven’t done this yet.
Short Story: FinishI finished this Monday morning. Had less than 300 words to go, it seems. I’d been thinking about doing at least one more scene. But, when I got there, this felt like I a good ending place. It isn’t exactly a HEA, but that comes later. 🙂 I posted the first scene last Friday. Audio: Finish listening to Erased(Jennifer Rush)Finished listening to this Monday morning. Really enjoyed it, but I can’t wait for #3, which I believe is Nick’s story. Even though he acted like a jerk through most of book #1 & some of #2, I always liked him the most out of the boys.
Dreamweaver(Angela Wallace), Mating Call(Martha Bourke), Conspiracy(Lindsay Buroker)I finished Dreamweaver Sunday night. Absolutely loved this even if it made me cry by the end(which I can tell you, usually gets a book a high rating from me. I’m probably weird). Read Mating Call on Monday. Probably part of the reason I got through this so fast, is that I was so excited to get to Conspiracy. I seriously love her Emperor’s Edge series(and the Flash Gold series too). And I read all of Conspiracy yesterday. Since I wasn’t feeling that well, I mostly just read all day. And didn’t go to bed until about 11:30 last night because I kept saying “just one more chapter”. And as soon as I finished, I went and bought the next book. Usually I’ll just add it to the wish list.
- Read: 500 Ways to Tell a Better Story(Chuck Wendig) – 29% through this.
- Crochet: Fierce Little Dragon I have the body and back legs done.
I don’t usually post new goals on Wednesday, but like I said, since I got Stained Snow back, I’m going to add that in. And I got all this week’s books read, so I’ll add more. And I started another short story(or possible novelette/novella. we’ll see). Like the other one, this one also relates back to Duty to Protect(and another future story). I have 360 words on it so far.
So, for the rest of the week, I want to:
- Finish Flames of Redemption revisions(should be finished today)
- Stained Snow: Revisions
- The Choice: Research
- Short Story: work 1/2 hr every day
- Read: Blood and Betrayal(Linday Buroker) and Shadows Over Innocence(a short story prequel to the Emperor’s Edge series)
- Crochet: Fierce Little Dragon – finish
