Home of a mother, wife, writer

I had all of my writing tasks checked off my to-do list by Thursday. Which left me wondering what to do with Friday. Obviously I would keep going. Other than on weekends(and usually holidays), I don’t seem to know how to take a day off from writing(and don’t really want to, I don’t think). So, instead of just working on one thing, I had 3 WiPs open in Scrivener. And bounced between them. I spent 30 minutes working on revising Flames of Redemption. Then, I did chores/other tasks for half an hour. The next half hour was spent adding words to a new scene in The Choice. Another 30 minute break. Then, half an hour adding words to the short story(or novelette). And like that through the day.

I am going to try again with the focus thing. Flames of Redemption revisions are going pretty fast. So, I’m going to focus on those until my CP gets the rest of Stained Snow back to me. Also really want to finish the novelette(since it’s no longer short) this week. Once I’ve finished that, unless I have Stained Snow back, I’ll move on to adding/fleshing out the scenes for The Choice, but set it aside to work on Stained Snow when I have it.

  • Flames of Redemption: Finish read through. Start revisions if I can. – Finished the read through Thursday morning. Took all my highlights and notes I made on the kindle copy and put them in the right spots in scrivener. It’s more work than if I read right on the computer, but I can’t read on the computer screen very well or for very long. The kindle is easier on my eyes. Then, I got the first 2 chapters revised Thursday night. And through Chapter 13 on Friday. And another 4 chapters on Saturday. I wasn’t going to work then, but I had everything else for the week done, so I decided to get started on next week’s goals. I only have 12 more to go now.
  • Short Story: add words – This wasn’t a very hard goal to accomplish. 3028 this week. It’s almost finished. I posted the first scene here on Friday.
  • Read: Dark Lover Finished this yesterday afternoon. Loved it. Started reading Dreamweaver by Angela Wallace.
  • Crochet: Finish Hello Kitty Hat I finished this on Wednesday. And started the First Fall Knit Hat by Lionbrand yarns. And finished it Saturday.

  1. Wow! You are powering through your goals, good job!! I am impressed you can work on more than one thing at once, I can’t seem to do this!!! Have a great week 🙂

    • This went to spam, so I almost didn’t see it(hopefully it will know not to send you there now).

And thanks! I can’t seem to focus on just one thing. Sometimes I wish I could. I am trying to narrow my focus though and not try to work on quite so much.

  2. Well done for burning through your goals like that! I’ve just started ROW80, here’s hoping I get through my goals as quickly as you did!

I’m the same as you, I don’t like taking a day off writing or I feel disconnected from the story. Although I now give myself weekends off for reading / blogging etc.

And by the way, that hello kitty hat is so cute!

    • Thanks! Not every week is quite as good, but I’ve mostly figured out the best way for me of doing things.

Yeah, I usually take weekends off since that’s when we’re mostly out doing things/running around. This weekend was a stay at home time for me and the kids though.

      Thank you

  3. I just finished a read-through on a story I’m revising, so it sounds like we’re both in a similar place. Congrats and good luck with your revisions!
