Sunday Summary: Cooling Off

it has been cooling off around here lately. A few mornings when I’ve gotten up, it hasn’t even been 40 degrees. We heat our house in the winter with a pellet stove. Of course our stove is old and needs some work before we can turn it on for this year. So, it’s been pretty cold in our house as well. We’ve been dealing with it though. Stay bundled up in sweatshirts and have a couple little heaters we can plug in(as long as I can get the little boy to not turn them off or unplug them). And it gives me a good excuse to run the oven and bake cookies. I made two different kinds of cookies in the last week. And will be attempting the cake mix cookies again since they turned out so good. Now, onto my ROW80 progress this week.

  • Write at least 1 hour every day. Target: 5000+ new words.

I have kept up with this all week. Sometimes that hour was distracted or interrupted(since my daughter has decided 5:30 is late enough for her sleep some mornings). But, I still sit my butt in the chair and get some words down. Counts for this week have been: Monday – 1211, Tuesday – 1161, Wednesday – 647, Thursday – 678, & Friday – 500. Yesterday was our town’s homecoming parade and today we went to the early church service and will be going to my husband’s aunt’s to carve pumpkins a little later, so I haven’t got any writing done this weekend. But, I managed 4197 words during the week. Not quite my target of at least 5000, but it’s still forward progression.

  • Finish the summary for Healing the Heart.

I finished this on Monday.

  • Write back stories for major characters

I have 3 of these written. Debating on whether to write one for the fourth, who is really more of a minor antagonist. I may still write it if I feel I need to get into his head a little more. The first two were each 6 handwritten notebook pages long. The one for the main antagonist though, who did not seem to want to talk to me at first, was only about 4 pages.

  • Have 5 more areas cross off editing checklist

Got this done on Thursday since the last two I was really able to search through for at the same time. Now, I just have five more to go through and I’ll be done. So, should have it finished by the end of this week.

  • Comment on at least 5 blog posts

I commented on at least six, maybe 7.

  • Keep up with my posting schedule

didn’t post on Monday, but kept up with the rest of the schedule.

  • Reply to all comments on my posts

I’m all caught up on this except for 1, I think.

  • Finish Laiden’s Daughter
  • Read Red

Finished Laiden’s Daughter on Monday and started Red that night. Finished it Thursday afternoon. And I had read the whole second half of it on Thursday. Sucked me right in. Think I started Genesis by Kait Nolan. I read the two novellas, Forsaken by Shadow and Devil’s Eye, and the short story, Blindsight by Thursday night. Since then, I’ve started two novels and taken them both off by the 25% mark. When I find myself skimming several pages at a time, I figure it’s not the book for me. I have started another one, Wilde’s Army, by Krystal Wade. It’s the second in the series, and I read the first a month or so ago. Only about 3% through it so far.

  • Walk on treadmill 3 days

I walked Monday & Wednesday, but didn’t do it on Friday. No excuses for it, I just wasn’t in the mood, so I didn’t do it. Will try to do better next week though.

  • Stay within calories at least 3/5 days

I did good on Wednesday, and I think that’s the only day I did. But, I just need to get back on track with this as well this week.

Goals for the next week:

  • Write for 1 hour every morning. Target: 5000+ words.
  • Fill out blueprint for Healing the Heart
  • Finish editing Stained Snow
  • Comment on at least 5 blog posts
  • Keep up with posting schedule
  • Reply to all comments on my posts
  • Finish reading Wilde’s Army
  • Walk on treadmill 3x
  • Stay within calories at least 3/5 days

  1. had a moment at the beginning when tired brain went =whaaat – then realized you were doing temps in F not C – 40 is cold – wrap up warm – looks like you did well this year so long may it continue:)

    • haha. didn’t think about other people not realizing I meant F. I’m just so used to using it. :) It has warmed up again and is supposed to stay warm for most of this week, but I know that won’t last long. Thanks!
